they are if you lack chest. way harder than pull ups even. especially when it comes to chest dips where you also need a strong core

Why are these harder than pull ups?

They really aren't, I was overweight and could do dips but couldn't do push ups or pull ups at that time yet.

where / how do i do dips as a poorgay who can't afford a gym membership or a dip station ?

Learn the V-Sits and Knuckle Dips instead for some at home calisthenics, you might want to get some wooden parallettes to assist you with shit at first.

hahah dude its like how mentally challenged ppl do pushups. i understand the differences. just werent aware of it being called " knuckle dips". and i would think the rom you get from doing it on the floor wasnt sufficient.
i do dips on chairs and flat benches all the time, dw

Unironically watch that dumbbell anime, just google onagai muscle. It’ll answer that question and more better than anon can.

Just make one out of wood anon. Frame up some 2x4s and friction fit 1.5" pipes on top. Very easy and I'll last forever. Ive got dip handles for my rack but I've been using my homemade dip station thr last 15 years. There's no need to buy some company's shit-tier product when you can make a better one.

you can use a chair or bench easy.

best type of these chest dips are when you get yourself over a bar and do forward dips at park

check if your area has these trek fit parks or whatever they are called. otherwise get gymnastic rings, you can set them up anywhere such as tree branches, or under some scaffoldings or stairs

I use a tree branch in my backyard that's sturdy enough to support me and is chest level.

you could even use 2 chairs in your house if youre not a fat frick I suppose

They aren't though. I can easily do 10-12 reps of 15 dips no weight assist versus 8 reps of 10 pull ups no weight assist

  7. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Because you've done more pull ups than dips and your chest/triceps are shit. I can rep dips with 50kg but 20kg is heavy with pull ups

  8. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

I remember being able to do like 15 pull ups but no dips
Eventually I realized they just don't work for my shoulders and when you try to push from an unstable position you just can't apply force at all

I literally do the same reps on pull ups and dips.

            stability makes it harder

Pull ups are harder than dips IMO, I am also somewhat of a lanklet though so maybe that is related

  12. 2 years ago

Pull ups are easier than dips if you are extremly light like under 140 lbs.

i'm 6'1" 175lbs and I can easily do around 12 strict pull ups in a set but only like 5 dips
my pressing strength is just garbage

        am

I can do about 14 bodyweight dips and about 10 bodyweight pullups so dips are easier imo. I weight 185 and am 6'1 so might be my leverages

do like 5 sets of 3 dips on push days or even better use an assisted dip machine that will dramatically improve your pressing strength bro. helped me a ton also that the assisted dip machine had a pullup bar so I would do both

I'm 190 lbs and can do 12 dips compared to 8 pull ups, dips are definitely easier

I did 3x6 dips recently and 3x1 pullups (admittedly abysmal form adwell) it hurts so bad being a DYEL but I will push forwards.

It takes almost a year to achieve a bodyweight bench press and just a few months to do a pull ups for reps.

They are only hard until you get used to them. I started only able to do like 5 reps, but that grew to body weight for 25 reps, then added weight, and now im doing +20kg. Took a matter of weeks.

everytime i do dips my arms tremble, is it bad form or am i just too weak?
    i am 130 lbs

Your stabilizer muscles are weak, concentrate on being stable while doing dips. Also, do negatives where you focus on not trembling

are there exercises for stabilizer muscles?
