I see some jacked gym bros who sit or lie down on their stomachs to do these and I’m going to try it next time I go gym. Is there any benefit to this? At least seated seems like you could do more weight. Anyone found that?
Keep your thumbs on the same side of the handle as the other fingers (like suicide grip) and keep the angle so that the thumb is higher than the other fingers, so basically opposite of op pic. Otherwise it's more or less fine. What the other guy said is probably fine if you're keen on hitting the rear.
Damn. I thought I was doing these with light weight but reading this thread it makes sense. I've been going to the gym for 3 weeks and usually I superset these for 3x12-15 with tricep pushdown and overhead tricep extension. Can't really do it with more than 6kg.
one of the worst shoulder fricker upper exercises. if you do them look up some good shoulder mobility, internal vs external rotation, and rotator cuff videos on youtube.
leverage
that, and comparatively speaking the deltoids are small muscles, they're not made to move a ton, mostly just stabilize
Because your hand is rotated inwards
You're not supposed to go to 90° degrees. Also go lighter on the weight on them
>Also go lighter on the weight on them
I'll fix that then, thanks.
how many degrees then? I try to go 180 if the weight is low
Thats too much. Do them in the scapular plane, which is around 150 degrees IIRC.
Because you're ego lifting
So I should focus more on reps than putting more weight?
1x20 then 3x failure and you'll get pumped. Do them real slow.
Ok thanks.
Yes. Do whatever weight allows you to get a full range of motion. To grow your side delts you want to do at least 6 sets of at least 12 reps per week.
>Didn't envision himself as a bird
most common reason actually
Not an often used motion. How many times in your life have you really performed this lift on a practical level?
When flapping as a bird. Squawk!
Right. Seems I've been forgetting my morning routine.
Best one episode character is House MD history
I only do 7 or 8kg in these. I am 6f6".
Yeah I'm 5'7 and I don't go higher than 8kg
5'10 masterrace doing 4x12 with 22.5lb/10.2 kg
Back to the manlet pit
Try me, b***h
I was doing 9kg, that was the problem.
6'5 skelly i do 3x12 with 10kg and bench 50kg 8x
I’m 6’6” and do lateral raises with Warwick Davis and his son.
I'm 6'5 and do 15 kg for 4 sets of 20
I do 10 kg for 3x15 with completely straight arms and iam 6'3... Sucks that after 10 next ones are 12 kg thats too big of a jump for this excercise
Work your way up to 3x20 and then make the weight jump.
Yea youre right i probably will 15 reps are relatively comfortable at this point
I do 3x30 with 10kg and I still have shit delts
also I am 6'4
I'm 6'3 and I do 10kg with cables.
Do these actually develop noticeable serratus?
The further the dumbbells get from you, the difficult it will be to carry them, its simple physics

while seated you won't be able to cheat by leaning back and turning it into a front delt exercise
AND THIS BIRD YOU CANNOT CHANGE
LORD KNOWS I CAN'T CHANGE
I do 2x10-20. Currently at 14kg. The key is to rest a couple of seconds and take deep breaths to push beyond failure
This form is very wrong
how to do this exercise properly?
by lying on a incline bench on ur belly and doing it

Use less weight.
>can do these with 25lbs
>still have DYEL shoulders
cos they're shit and u prob suck at doing them cos they're not noob friendly
Try OHP
OHP wrecks my lower back
Lower weight, brace glutes and abs, push head forward so it's right under bar once you clear your forehead
Your abs are weak.
Start with 3-5kg and rep out volume till you feel a good burn increase once you have to rep out 40-50.
my shoulders balooned when i started doing these
RIP John
Gonna give these a shot next shoulder and leg day. Thanks anon.
How about holding dumbbells out in front as if doing hammer curls then lifting your arms lateral.
no thats the dumbest shit ever and u should feel bad uve wasted ur time if u do that
Didn't Jefff Calaviere told to do it like this? Also bend forward. Or is he a fraud who knows nothing?
ur talking like the chicken wing right? ur cutting off the leverage dont do that
You should always do the opposite of whatever Jeff Cavaliere says
I'm 5'5.75" and i do 5x5 with 20 kg

is it useful or does it produce the same effect if I do this exercise with one arm at a time?
you can do seated version if you don't want to cheat so hard, just make sure do lower the weight before you sit on the bench cuz this one is harder
