This is a modern cultural ideal. In ancient Greece male beauty was more important than female. In the epics men are frequently described bathing and covering their bodies with olive oil. You're not more manly than Odysseus, who had a bow so stiff that out of 500 men only he could string it.

These are excuses weak men use to not improve themselves. You can keep complaining about it, but women aren't going to settle for men who offer nothing to them they can't already get with their own salary. Become educated. Become a better communicator. Get interesting hobbies. Become a leader in your friend group or community. Have passions outside of what gets discussed on this site.
Pretending its women's fault they won't date you is just a weak mindset. No amount of "you sound like a chick dude" is gonna change that.

Brother if you think it's "unrealistic" to expect men to find hobbies, passions, communication skills etc. to become interesting and attractive that's on you, and it shows just how low you set the bar for men. Mmen online keep blaming women for not settling for them when they offer nothing for women anymore. The only thing they offered in the past was a paycheck. Women have paychecks now. But instead of self improving men just want to cry about hypergamy because they are too weak to make a change in their lives.

The point is that men aren't evolved to have to jestermaxx and hobbymaxx to pass on our genes. Men were grown in a vat by evolution to be in charge of women. Being in charge of women is as much in our genes as it is for geese to migrate south for the winter. You've forgotten that we're not evolved for this. "Times change lol" our genes didn't.

Try to picture Gaius Marius reading "the subtle art of not giving a frick". Honest to god I think someone like that would rather commit suicide than make a new year's resolution. Self improvement is some ultra modern meme that's been around for like 100 years at most, and acceleratingly so in the last 30. My grandfather played tennis because he liked playing tennis, not because he had some cringe reason like "this inter-male competition is gonna make me more alpha". We've been domesticated

Men have always competed over each other for women though. Its only been the last few centuries where the sexual marketplace was evened out.

Are you serious? You seriously think that? When Socrates was forced to commit suicide in the evening, he sent his wife away in the early morning. He spent the rest of his last morning, afternoon, and evening with his male friends. Do you think he considered his wife his greatest competitive accomplishment?

So you have to have the same opinion as a guy who willingly killed himself because the state told him to? You and Socrates both sound beta. If you don't care about your wife, that's fine. If you do, that's also good. Why be someone you're not just to impress some idiots on IST?

They didn't need to because they lived in a culture of competition and they were also patricians who had plenty of time for pastimes. We have to simulate it because the environment has changed unfavourably. It's not a personal failing.

Also self-improvement in the sense of "how to live a good life" goes back thousands of years at least, and the idea that you can learn a life or vocational skill by reading is probably as old as reading and writing are themselves. Take a look at Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epicurus or even Confucius. Julius Caesar is said to have cried at the feet of a statue of Alexander, realising that he was older than Alexander at his peak, and hadn't achieved anything of note. This implies he was consciously emulating Alexander, he probably read everything he could to gain those skills (Alexander is known to have written but nothing survives). All the great Chads through history were reading books written by previous Chads. You also need to remember that most of history's Gigachads were rich kids with private mentors and slaves. They had the best possible circumstances for their development.

This is the most important thing for guys to realise.
Mentors, role models, reading biographies of other winners to learn from is to me probably the number one thing that can help you be successful as a man. In order as well, your in-person teachers, coaches, bosses and senior teammates co-workers are the most important element. You work with them and spend time learning directly and passively by being in their presence. Role models can be less personal but are still somewhat important and finally a bit of conscious learning through reading about successful people is a little cherry on top.
                This is the biggest factor.

You know that life in Rome was total garbage, right? People dying left and right, starving, no money for anything. Thats why stoicism was so popular in Rome - life was so shit, people had to cope some way, so they coped by "accepting all suffering as natural". Read stoicism chapter in History of Western Civilization where he states that, stoicism in fact was never popular in Greece, which was at time better developed

the only thing that show is unrealistic is that you also said "be a leader of your community or your friends" wich sounds comptletly unrealistic because thats the point of a leader, there's only one.As for others things no it's not.

                >I have at no point, in any way, even hinted I believe such a thing. If you want to invent a new position because you are having a hard time talking about the one I'm giving, go write in a diary.

ofc you do because by saying that men who don't get laid is men without hobbies, passions, communications skills you basically out them as weirdos stereotypes.

                >When you respond, I'd like to know what conversational skills, hobbies, etc. you've worked on in the last 5 years. (lifting doesn't count)

i read books on history just like i do since i'm a child ,i don't need to work on anything special that i'm not disposed too ,did shooting and learned a bit more about guns but not that much ,did work in a farm wich makes me learning how to drive tractors and related things like mechanics, more about animals ,did run, lift( O_O), and thats all.

but my point to all of that is that majority of men get laid ,you just have to look at dads and granddad and probably stats that you would gather in 1920 and more ,guys get laid.
Now do those guys were better than men considering our modern standards ? do you think your average guy would be more educated ,have more hobbies ,passions and communication skills than guys now in 40's/50's/60's etc etc
i don't think so actually ,the only thing that cross my mind is that they were more into tinkering and going out.

                >But instead of self improving men just want to cry about hypergamy because they are too weak to make a change in their lives

and thats the thing ,self improving has never been a thing because no ones cared about it,thy got a job, wife, family and get fat.Now people are obsessed about it because of people like you constantly parroting "self improve or no laid".

Weak men also are creating the environment that is allowing women to become egoistic, selfish, and masculine
Men need to improve for women to improve - we are supposed to lead them BY OUR NATURE. Enough of this perfect the way you are bullshit, and this goes for both genders.
Improve yourself, then exercise your options and don't go below your standards unless you absolutely have to. Leave shitty women to their own devices - don't be captain save-a-hoe or fall for the damsel in distress bullshit.
So many desperate men will take anything they get, which is enabling shitty women and further reducing the size of the minority of really good women out there - thanks to the hivemind effect.

That's just not true. It can be a nightmare for some dudes. Like everything else, it depends on genetics. Regardless, I've run test, tren, deca, winny, anavar, dbol and tbol over the years and nothing has affected my hair as far as I can tell. I've receded a little from NW0 to NW1 over the last 10 years, but I'm in my 30s, so that's to be expected.

Usual suspects of hair falling out are diffuse thinners, Noorwooders tend to recede very slowly that it's almost unnoticeable.

How to notice? See those little weaker hairs at the front? Probs they no gonna be finna there in a year boi.

Of course Noorwood reaper could be fricking with you and just stabilize at NW2, NW2.5 or NW3 for the rest of the life and you could slick it back and look good, or you could enjoy NW5 hell

He is right. Some (SOME) people just get a shit hairline early on and keep it the exact same way for even decades sometimes. I remember back in 2012 i thought markiplier was balding. 10 years later and he looks the same.

            Anonymous

No no no what I mean is people like Mark or Keane Revees have first of all very big foreheads, then they have higher hairline on to of that like NW2, so they appear balding. Know what they don't have?

Miniaturizing hairs at the hairline front and temples. That's how you notice. Reaper works slowly so you WILL SEE miniaturized hair growing.

Look at Mark now and you will see he does not have those hairs. Is he on fin or not? Who knows.

My point, the anon you were originally talking to, was that if women, who almost never go bald, can also have thinner or shorter hair at the front, then so can a man who isn't going bald. I've had the same hairline since 23 (29 now) and I always had thinner hair at the front (picrel).

    Does min work?
Does it have the same feminizing effect as fin?

      Anonymous

min works if you stay consistent but imo getting a prescription for oral minox and just taking a pill really quick is so much fricking easier than putting shit on my scalp every day

not sure where you heard fin has feminizing effect unless you count keeping a NW1 hairline as as feminine

also taking min without fin is really moronic and you should never do it. If anything take only fin. If you're balding, taking min, and are not on fin, you're not treating the root cause of your balding.

If your hair is a bucket of water and balding is a hole in that bucket, finasteride plugs the hole up and minoxidil adds more water. It's moronic to keep adding more water to a leaking bucket when you could just fix the hole.

I'm on finasteride and my hair has thickened up and doesn't seem to have receded but recently I've noticed short hairs on my hairline right at the front and I'm terrified that fin has stopped working. Are they just growing, minaturising, or am I on a shed? I've been taking it for a year and a half ish. The hairs are about half the length of a nnormal bit of hair.

I like having hair but I've never known what to do with it so going bald isn't exactly a bad thing when I think about it logically. I never found a haircut that matched my face, and literally everyone I've known has said that I looked better with short hair than long hair.

Anyone who has used fin + minoxidil for a long period of time (>18 months), have you experienced any of these side effects:

    >gyno breasts / breast enlargement
    >low libido
    >erectile dysfunction
    >dandruff
    >greasy hair
    >brain fog
    >lack of motivation or depression
    >nightmares
If so, how did you treat them? Did you stop the treatment? Was it mostly placebo for you?

See this is my exact fear. Taking fin and then having my breasts turn into D cups. It's like a catch-22 situation. Either I don't take fin and go bald (immediately turn into a 1/10), or I take fin and develop serious side effects (and man boobs turn you into a 1/10)

I had this, been on fin just over a year. When you start it's a massive hormonal change so I got scared and stopped for w few days then thought frick it, bald is worse than gyno and gyno surgery is far far cheaper than a hair transplant. Got back on fin and after another month the pain went away, nipples stopped being hard all the time and gyno never developed. I did lift more and got leaner to help fight it but that's it and I'm so happy I pushed through, hair has made an amazing recovery and no one can tell I'm balding now only me, wish I'd started sooner though but I was a delusional c**t who believed because my mothers father had hair as do her brothers I can't go bald which is 100% bullshit as I got it from my father and 80% of balding men have balding fathers, the X chromosome theory is scientific garbage.

      >Really, just take care of your body and your appearance.
Everyone does, this is the bare minimum. It's just that baldness is completely irrelevant to my mental or physical health; it's just a feature of being a man. I have all my hair now, but if I bald in the future, I don't really mind. Sooner or later you will become old and lose everything you tried to maintain instead of going with the flow.

You can shave your head right now, but you won't because you know it'll look like shit compared to a headful of hair.

You look exactly like my brother-in-law and it fricking scared me because he took his own life like 8 years ago. He was rocking the same hairstyle and beard combo. He was 25 when he went.

I wanted to start working out and a friend recommended this board. Posts like this make me rethink the credibility of it. Should I just read the stickys and move on?

I recently told my (bald) doctor I'm taking finasteride and he went to a rant about it. I just sat there in silence and let it pass since I didn't want to start an argument about it.
I'm completely convinced that anyone, be it in real life or on the internet, who says negative thinks about finasteride is a bald man who wants others to suffer the same fate. Frick them all, finasteride for life.
