      You can buy a decent one for $600, there is some for less than $300 but wouldn't recommend them tough

      I found an old Schwinn Airdyne on the side of the road. I put some new bolts on it and greased the joints and it works great.
      Keep an eye on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace as well. People buy this shit, use it a couple of times, then let it sit for a while. After that, they sell it for cheap.

          No, you don't. You could not last 15:00 minutes as hard as possible. You go as hard as you can go for 15 minutes, but for 20 seconds you could go way harder at a pace you could not last 15 minutes for. That's why you don't treat it as a treadmill or ergometer. It is an assault bike for short attack intervals.

          Want to try it out too, but I hear from IST that is bad for the knees.

          It's only bad for the knees, if you have bad knees. It's fun, but more of a leg endurance work out. You could also do light weighted squats at high reps. For getting fit the assault bike is way better.
