Why do gymbros always try to act like lifting is some panacea to literally every fitness goal when muscle tone and maintenance and overall health/fat loss belongs to cardio?

I get the feeling only about 1% of this board actually hits the fricking gym or does any amount of exercise regularly

Because they look good, and the monkey brain of both men and women still respect big guy, even if the muscles and heart are very weak. You will notice that people who lift for strength have a much better outlook on cardio than people who lift for looks.

This is no bullshit. I'm an MMA dyel who can frick up most people and the only lifters who respect it are the ones who care about strength. The aesthetics ones act high an mighty because they think they're manpretty.

        >manpretty
I dunno man, this sounds like cope.
I follow what you're saying, and its probably got truth to it, but it just sounds like you respect lifters who look like shit because you're not threatened by them.

If this were even remotely true, the permabulker meme wouldn't exist.

I do cardio 3x weekly but if I could only lift or do cardio, I’d lift.
Lifting benefits far outweigh cardio (especially when it comes to manipulating weight, whether fat loss pr muscle gain and obviously muscle tone) and you can even do lifts that can function as cardio, but even high intensity cardio can’t match lifting in any capacity.
But yeah heart health is underrated.

I lift weights for about 40mins - 1 hr then do the rowing machine for 40mins. Have I been doing it wrong?

Probably eating your gains away with too much anerobics also gear is only for old people or gays

    Do both.
Nothing stops you from doing both and being in the top 20% for each of them.

If you don't do cardio, you will get gassed out if you ever have to run, and you cannot truly call yourself an athlete.
If you don't lift you end up with that dogshit runner physique with shoulders narrower than your waist.

Cardio can be a useful tool for eating less without having to eat less.

You don't need cardio smoothbrain. If you ever did supersets or structured your workout more like a curcuit you'd see that your heartrate goes up for long enough to qualify it as cardio. So you work your heart as well. Muscle tone is a buzzword with no meaning, but if you wanna waste your time with cardio instead of shortening your gym workout AND getting extra benefits then you do you.

You're the guy who doesn't know a thing about lifting weights if you think that you can't train your heart with them.

        >I-I never said that you can't train your heart, but it would never come close to cardio
I get the feeling only about 1% of you morons actually think about what you post here OR do in your daily life.

Mark Rippetoe is largely responsible for spreading this nonsense. He should be publicly crucified for having ruined an entire generation's fitness.
