Why do keto advocates say your body only starts burning fat once youre in ketosis?

Why do keto advocates say your body only starts burning fat once you’re in ketosis? That would mean if you ate an apple every six hours and nothing more you wouldn’t lose any weight, which is ridiculous.

I’m on day four of a dry fast and have only gone from 181 to 180.4 pounds and redditors are saying I didn’t lose weight because it took three days to get into ketosis.

    VERY basic overview -
Your body preferentially uses glucose in the bloodstream.
You're always burning a mix of triglycerides and glucose, but if glucose is ALREADY in the bloodstream due to you eating all the time, you will use that first.

So if you’re in the same caloric deficit from eating keto as you are in my apple example, you’ll lose more weight?

What if you spread those apples out to eat a third of one every two hours? How much will you break thermodynamics from eating a keto diet compared to that?

        >So if you’re in the same caloric deficit from eating keto as you are in my apple example, you’ll lose more weight?
        No.
In the short term switching to keto for weight loss will be deceiving because over the first week or two, you deplete your glycogen and all the water that goes along with it which will probably be like 5lbs by itself.

There is no metabolic advantage to ketosis.

        >What if you spread those apples out to eat a third of one every two hours? How much will you break thermodynamics from eating a keto diet compared to that?
Again, no metabolic advantage to ketosis. This is one reason why intermittent fasting and fasted cardio are popular though because you're trying to manipulate hormones so that you are pulling energy from your fat stores to utilize as energy and when you do eat, even though it's the same amount of food/calories as if you had spread it out, it may be less efficient going back into the fat cells. Well, that's part of the reason anyways.

How did you manage to lose so little weight in a 4 day fast? Did you have 0 water weight prior? Don't you have glycogen stores?

No idea. I haven’t even drank water in these four days, but I wasn’t in ketosis before beginning the fast. Today I even spent the day fishing in the sun so I’d expect to have lost more. Hopefully when I weigh myself in another 2-3 days the results will be better

    Because they are clueless.

For reference I mean that ketotards are stupid but youre equally stupid for thinking 0.6lbs of weight loss over 4 days is something you can accurately track or measure at all.

Ketosis is basically just magic like every other “lose weight without eating less” fad. It’s not the first and it won’t be the last

What’s moronic about that? The knuckle draggers on here say the same thing about water fasting.

You can’t flip that around on me. I basically asked you “why not fast?”

Because its far less effective than just not eating what amounts to literal shit. Also if you seriously have gone 4 days without drinking water you need to see a doctor because you're gonna die.

The important part you're missing is what KIND of weight is being lost. For dry fasting and botched keto, you're eating at muscle mass. If you do keto right, your body only burns fat cells.
GL with your gains though, you're going to lose a ton of fricking mass.

Keto is literal nonsense. I am seeing massive results in body change and all I do is cut out fast food and artificial shit and just eat whatever I want, but cleanly, and moderate sweets heavily to once or twice a week at most, and even then a very small amount. No soda, no fast food, water primarily, with low calorie alternative drinks any time you desire flavor. Its that easy. Seriously.
There's no magic way to lose weight, no secret diet, nothing "The system" tries to hide.
Just eat the same kind of thing your forefathers ate, at least ingredients wise.
Grass-fed clean meat, real sugar and whole grain carbs instead of processed, bleached shit. Greens and fruit and vegetables, etc.
No seed oils, no High Fructose Corn Syrup, no Onions, no vegan "meat". Just food the way it was meant to be consumed. Unedited.
When possible, replace carbs with protein. This can be done very easily by eating chickpea pasta instead of regular wheat pasta, and protein fortified cereals for breakfast, dried meats, Dave's Killer Bread is also ideal. 5 grams of protein a slice, meaning thats 10 grams of protein just in the bread. Add cheese and meat to it and you're looking golden.
Simple things like this are what make bodies from fatass into badass.

I went from 350 to 135 from age 16-18, so I get the sentiment. I don’t think appealing to nature makes any sense, but thanks for lending a helping hand.

No I’m not. People who are already sick and dying take multiple weeks for dehydration to kill them.

Dehydrating yourself is not healthy. If you somehow think it is you need to take meds unironically.

You're contradicting yourself already from the get-go.
Ketosis =/= weight loss. It's simply another for your body to convert whatever fuel it has into energy.
