    I switched to chest press machine but I don't hate bench. Mostly I just don't like waiting for a bench and plates and bars and laying I'm someone else's sweat.

      this. The "suboptimal" youtube grifters made a hatebandwagon just for clout and being contrarian.
      Big bench equals big and strong shoulders, triceps and pecks. As a result of bench gains you can do heavier bb exercises like incline dumbel press, fly etc making your upper body even more aesthetic and big.
      The only caviat is that progressing on bench is fricking hard, its not your typical muh deadlift +20 kg every week shit.

        Yes. For the exact same, do 15-30 degree incline + BTN press. For just hypertrophy, same degree of incline + DB/machine shoulder press variant or shoulder raises variant.

    No clue. Probably some weird TikTok know-it-alls and YouTube geeks creating a trend. I don't use TikTok, and I haven't watched any YT fitness shit in years (aside from the rare Clarence video and Rick the Stick), so I wouldn't know.

    I still bench because I have a very small setup at home. Just a power rack, barbell, plates, some dumbbells, and that's all really. I generally stick to squat/deadlift/bench/OHP variations with weighted pull-ups and dips.

    DYELS basically. Literally cannot prove me wrong. Every single guy who benches but has small chest benches 80kg. Then they switch to cables and dumbbells and "their chest blew up". Well no it didnt because you are dyel but secondly yeah cause you benched only 80kg.

    Bench 140kg and then tell me your chest didnt grew. Its like complaining about small and weak legs when you squat only 100kg. No shit? Absolutely nothing made my chest grow bigger than going from 2pl8 to 3pl8. 5 years of cable flies and db hypertrophy didnt even come close.

      I struggle to bench more than 90 for 3. I keep having setbacks. Something keeps me from going in the morning like a work crisis or being ill or whatever.
