why do people never consider ostroveganism

It's literally the best of all worlds

>No suffering
>No supplements
>Low environmental impact

If you eat wholefoods plant based with a few bivalves thrown in, you're probably eating the healthiest diet there is.

With the bivalves, you're covering the holes of the vegan diet by getting your B12 and omegas, while also not causing any animal suffering as bivalves like oysters and mussels cannot feel pain.

You also don't have to eat the bivalves each day. You can rotate your days like Orthodox Christians do to save some money.

Chicken is basically a goybean. Unless you can find one that eats a diet of bugs you are eating glyphosate marinated goybean oil meat.

I'm in the US. South-central Wisconsin. Freshwater mussels are simply not sold here, and the only non-frozen fish is salmon at nearly 18 goddamn dollars a pound.

I almost exclusively use my Costco membership for Frozen Wild Alaskan Salmon and Frozen Wild Blueberries. Pretty good for quality nuts too if you have room the freezer for 'em.

For me it's buying whole briskets. I cut and render the fat for tallow and I cube or grind the meat into stews, sausage, or ground beef. I also like buying the pork belly and making bacon. Also I like when they have fresh head on shrimp because you can use the heads for shrimp stock and it'a way cheaper by the pound.

Man I haven't had sausage since I cut out processed meat, how long does "fresh" sausage like that last if you're not curing it? Does it freeze?

It's healthier tasting I suppose because it isn't junk cuts from a mysterious time. If you have a kitchen aid mixer the attachment is less than $50

I remember reading some papers a lil while back which all referenced the same database of carbon footprints for various foods. Part of the reason why the carbon footprint of cows is so high is because of the bone mass. For similar reasons, the carbon footprint of crustaceans, bivalves, and molluscs are all higher than you might expect. I'm not defending the argument for why these foods ought to be considered high carbon, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was an argument against eating (at least certain kinds of) seafood.

The real reason cows have a "carbon footprint" is because israelites put them in industrial factory farms and feed and raise them in incredibly unnatural ways. When cows are pasture raised they literally become carbon negative, because their manure and cud chewing fertilize and grow microbes in the top soil, and healthy microbe filled top soil is one of the most effective carbon storage materials on the planet.
