They don't though. Most have long torsos and skinny arms and look disproportionate since they're over the aesthetic cutoff (180cm/5'11).

Why should I care what a bunch of roided out freaks look like?

This guy is correct. I swam from age 6-23 all the way up to D2 college.
Swimmers are lean, have good backs and triceps and decent shoulders. Thats it.

Yes and those factors alone make them exponentially more aesthetic than some autistic min maxed gymcel

Sprinters have great bodies but middle and distance guys are usually just lanklets. Women swimmers usually have nice legs and asses but some can have man shoulders ( which sadly is a fetish of mine after 2 decades of swimming)

    They don’t
Especially longer distance swimmers look quite strange and not particularly muscular - though they are obviously much better at their event than weight lifters are
Even Phelps, who has the most gold medals, only looks particularly fit under optimal lighting or in photo shoots, normally he looks like a tall guy with very wide shoulders but not terribly athletic

      >tall guy with very wide shoulders
This is what women want. They don’t care about muscles one bit.

They care about muscles but they don’t like the sort of musculature men like. Men like men who have delicately cultivated, almost boyish musculature, that results from a lifetime of leisure, an active lifestyle, and athletics. They don’t like muscles grown for a 300 lb. bench press and daily protein shake guzzling. Only men like that.

Because they exercise their entire bodies everytime they do their sport, as opposed to people who lift weights and only target specific muscle groups at a time. They're actually physically fit unlike people who pick up perfectly calibrated weights in a perfectly controlled manner in a perfectly climate controlled room.

This. Weightlifters look extremely uncanny and dorky because they just artificially simulate being fit instead of actually being athletic

It’s literally the difference between male gaze and female gaze. Women don’t like the big or shredded look. Never have. Women like the look of a man who looks like he has an active lifestyle, and although swimmers can be elite athletes, that’s how they end up looking.

Your theory makes it sound like women have better taste than men, which I find EXTREMELY suspect.

It's the other way around, people with "aesthetic" genes (wide shoulders, thin waist/hips, long body), are better suited to be good swimmers. If you actually swim you can see there are plenty of people who clearly take excercise seriously and have low bf% but are dwarfmode or fridgemode ass fricks just like in any gym, you just don't see those people in a competiton. the reality is that unlike fat gain, musculature, especially its "aesthetic" quality does mostly come down to genetics.

    t. been swimming for 15 years and have wide child bearing hips. it is what it is.

its so funny because I hold weight likes its chill and as a kid I swam daily and lost a lot of weight so I thought "oh I try out for the swim team" got to high school every single 14 year old was 6"2 monsters and swam literal circles around me. Swimming is still the fricking best though unironically.

You're only looking at the best swimmers because you're not a swimmer and you'll look at every motherfricker who lifts a barbell because you're a homosexual
