Why do they do this?

https://nypost.com/2023/03/09/curvy-physical-trainer-cherry-rosaline-shatters-stereotypes/

>The fitness industry so often pushes the idea of men with six packs and women that look like Barbie.
>But one fitness professional is helping break the idea that being fit doesn’t have anything to do with the way you look.
>Cherry Rosaline, 22, first began her fitness journey during her final year of high school, after falling into a negative headspace due to the stressful year ahead.
>She decided to get more physical and found a strength and conditioning gym.
>The young trainer has a curvy figure that isn’t often seen in the fitness industry.
>She revealed that she’s never had someone doubt her talents because of the way she looks, but did say she did have an expectation of coming up against that because of the “stereotype” of what fitness loos like.

    >The fitness industry so often pushes the idea of men with six packs and women that look like Barbie.
Well, it's true. Healthy body is a healthy body, how it looks is secondary. Greeks weren't anorexic b***hes or 0% body fat oiled freaks.

because you have a greater chance of surviving being shot than you do of losing significant weight and keeping it off, let alone actually reaching your weight loss goal.

if you set people unachievable goals they'll fail and give up. it's correct and appropriate for fatties to focus on simply being better than they were.

over a long enough time period, a lot of little bit betters can add up to something. but the important thing is staying in the game. it's not about getting thin or getting fit. it's about getting stronger and fitter and having fun.

ultimately there will be no solution to the obesity crisis without government regulation, but that's never gonna happen.

addendum: if you make the gym a place of failure and shame people won't go. you have to celebrate everything.

i work in nursing and when people manage to not shit themselves for 4 hours they get a round of fricking applause. why? it's not because not shitting yourself is some great achievement - it's because if you don't reward it, they won't do it, and that just leads to shit everywhere.

stop thinking of people as you would like them to be and see them for what they are. people are like dogs.

      1. praise them constantly for doing the right thing
      2. make the right thing easy and the wrong thing hard
      3. they're usually happiest (except for creative types) when they're doing something they're competent at and have a clearly defined role and purpose. it's not about being a surgeon, it's about being good at what you do and knowing what you're for.

Because it will generate angry shares and clicks to the target audience for the ad space on the site, i.e. angry conservatives, increasing ad revenue for the NYPost while putting as many people as possible into the funnel for the publication's subscription, newsletter, affiliate links or whatever.

You're welcome and thanks for helping.

It does make you wonder though, how in shape can you be while still being a fatass?

Depends how you define "in shape". Obviously cardio will suffer more than strength sports, and strength sports will suffer more than, say, curling. Most reasonable people use precisely cardio as a measure of fitness, so lardasses are out of shape almost by definition, but we're on IST.
