i think he's more of a meme and then roidtards like him because he got real big (even though he died), and some people like his personality.

i don't hate him, but i definitely don't think how he lived his life was smart or good

    Glorify?

All people are flawed, not everyone has their flaws held up to scrutiny. I would not glorify him or really any mortal being, especially as he made very unhealthy decisions.

Only, I observe and recognize that he was an absolute genetic freak beast of nature that burned the candle at both ends and mogged the planet before the reaper (not norwood) sent him to that big gym in the sky.

why does longevity have to factor into it?

if getting monstrously huge is your goal, living to a ripe old age shouldn't get in the way of that

he set an incredibly impressive goal, he met and succeeded in that goal, and then died

not everyone needs to grow old and die at 80
he's respected for what he did

He was kind of part of the mainstream at the time, even if not as a serious bodybuilder, but still going against the stream in many ways, which set him apart from the rest. Also, as cheesy as it sounds, the "Whatever it takes" mentality he promoted has always helped me overcome all obstacles.
