"badass sinewy muscle" it's called being lean and small.

A lot of Vietnam era military guys looked like that, not exactly buff but they looked stronger for it, like their muscles were just really compacted down and efficient.
Maybe it's because of exercise, military guys train differently than gymbros. Running with heavy packs, crawling trough mud, lots of pushups. That sorta stuff would be written off as "cardio" or "nogainz" by gymbros, largely because they don't want to work out for 8 hours a day every day.

They were just starving and very lean anon. Military style workouts also contribute to a significant number of disabilities and injuries.

That's because they do too much and feed their soldiers compressed saw dust mixed with feces.

It's called muscle maturity. It's why someone who's been lifting for 10+ years has muscles that look like they're made of wood when they get really lean while a zoom zoom who hops on SARMs and has been lifting for 6 months looks like someone stuck a bike pump in him. The more you use a muscle the more it goes through that process.

I've heard ppl mention muscle maturity and I also believe it from my own experiences but I've never heard an actual explanation for it. Any idea what it means physiologically?

This is so goddamn stupid holy shit

    We don't have baby proportions
If you try to add a heavy load to this position (even highbar) you'll fricking fall flat on your ass

Squatting with depth ass to grass is heavily dependent on tibia to femur to torso ratios. Yes flexibility is a factor but it's not determinant

Extreme volume training. They do so much volume most of their muscle mass is just soft sarcoplasm, as if you fill a balloon with water each time. This is what pump training is based on, pump the muscles to the max each time, just as the balloon gets filled with water, and even though it will shrink back once the water (pump) leaves the balloon, it will still be slightly bigger than its original state.

These people train 20+ sets per bodypart making them fricking soft.

There is a reason people like Mike Mentzer and Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman looked so dense, nobody came close. Heavy lifting with low to moderate volume.

That dense look is common in people that do callisthenics for years and that usually means a routine with countless reps.
