brosplit is its own thing, PPL is not a brosplit. Brosplit is 1x body part per day 7 days a week

            Anonymous

(not him) idk I think PPL can be anything between a Arnold split and brosplit .
The argument you're trying to have are all splits "brosplits" or is a "brosplit" specifically 6/7 day routines.
6 day PPL can easily be brosplit under another name if you have like A/B days like Push A is bench/dip focused and Push B is more OHP and shoulders centered. Both are pretty heavy in accessories too. So PPL as descriptor is kind of bad to begin with because most of the people promoting it were doing pplx (with a/b days) and most of the people shilling it here are shilling "reddit ppl" or "6 day ppl" which is pplpplx (but without a/b days) so there's already a communication error embedded in the argument before we got to the current semantic argument because there's 4 potential things they could be talking about.

              Anonymous

              You're overthinking it.
PPL is movement oriented, a brosplit is body-part oriented.

                Anonymous

                yeah that doesn't change much
                push -chest, serratus
                pull - biceps, traps
                legs - quads, abs, calves
                push - shoulders, triceps
pull - lats (lol rhomboid or some shit), forearms
                -rest here-
                legs- hamstring, posterior chain

you can just make it the same thing and a lot of them were starting to be organized similar because PPL became mainstream. It's like saying your days are organized by lifts then trying to avoid having overlapping compounds. You just wind up with the same thing eventually.

                Anonymous

why the frick would you run PPL like this? The point of PPL is to hit each muscle 2x a week. That's just ordering a brosplit in a similar way to PPL but is not the PPL split.

                Anonymous

it hits each muscle twice week. You're working with at least half of your sets in compounds. Just because it's not as dominant on the same muscles on B as A doesn't mean it's not hitting them.

so what you are doing is you are completely changing what PPL is so it fits your argument?
I have never seen any PPL program here on IST where they'd train only biceps and traps on pull day, or just shoulders and triceps on push day.
                You are one dishonest wienersucker.
There is a sort of standard PPL program and in a Push day one will train chest, shoulders and triceps.

There is no standard ppl that's the issue I'm trying to highlight. Is that we can all be talking about different things. I just make the split up on the spot it's not more than a napkin note.

                Anonymous

You're a fricking moron. If ppl is a brosplit then why is it called something different? What you posted is not ppl or a brosplit it's ppl except half of the push and pull workouts will be missing. The point of a push day is to work all the push muscles. Unbelievable that I need to explain that. It's in the fricking name

                Anonymous

you're still doing bench on push B just not as many sets or you can integrate some form of undulating periodization. Like 5x5 on A and 3x10 on B. You're not doing no overhead work on A just maybe seated DB press. It just has points of focus for particular day it's not excluding other muscles in that movement category. It's still PPL and it's still equally a brosplit. I don't know where people get this concept that there's 1 ppl routine.

thats not even close to a brosplit if you are working chest and shoulders twice a week just with different sets and reps do you have assburgers?

it is brosplit because like ppl and brosplit isn't one thing either. You arguing about internet words that have nebulous meanings at best as if they have whatever non-implicit meanings you attached to them because that's the context you learned them in.

They are just going and don’t remember bro splits from when they were a thing. People would go to the gym and say “today I’m don’t hamstrings and shoulders” and would she only machines. The idea was to focus so intensely on one muscle you only need to stimulate it once a week (ie broscience).

PPL literally just means you have a do with lots of push based exercises, pull based and leg based. You can think of that purely functionally (and some people do squat on push day and deadlift on pull day) or you can incorporate some muscle group thinking. But it never has and never will be a “bro split”. I’m getting tired of how moronic this board is.

          moron?

          fricking morons.
brosplit is having a dedicated day to arms, another dedicated day to shoulders, another to chest and so on, hitting each muscle group only once throughout the week, one day per group.
it works for people on roids so clueless morons like you thought it would work on natties but it doesn't, it's fricking shit which is why it's named brosplit.
PPL is a decent enough program which often focus on a big compound with high intensity at the start of the workout followed by some isolation with focused more on volume.
