      My personal workout is similar, lifting + HIIT sprints. The problem with crossfit is the socialization part. Every major US city has 14 chubby chicks rumbling down the street once a week, who will then explain to EVERYONE that they did crossfit 6 times, and how you should too.     It's because they feel intimidated by how attractive and athletic the top people are, despite the events being identical in their memery to strongman events. They don't feel self conscious looking at strongmen competitors because they are just strong while ugly and fat. Whereas crossfit athletes are strong and fit. So they feel inferior and have to talk down about them.

    Same with with most "box" gyms and how they are unregulated garbage. Just like any DIY strongman implementation at your bros gym is going to be shit as well with poor technique.

    It's the same shit as strongman, just the people look hotter.

    Myself and a lot of other morons on here make fun of crossfitters because we're insecure. These guys look better and lift pretty much the same weight we do, but their overall level of functional and cardiovascular fitness blows ours out of the fricking water. It's the same reason we make fun of caligays and gymnasts.

    What else am I supposed to do here? Do cardio? Circuit training? Tabata? Frick that shit, that shit is hard. I just want to leisurely lift weights every couple of minutes. The easiest thing to do is just put crossfitters down verbally and pretend they are weak homosexuals.

      This is an out-of-context statement and shows you have no idea how crossfit gyms work. If you think they ever implied that they only did WODs and never did any strength training, you're ignorant.

      All crossfit gyms start with strength training for the day. And all the athletes will do strength training. They usually end their day with one "WOD" after doing the bulk of their work earlier in strength related tasks.

    My best friend from college is a registered dietitian and has the body of a Greek god. He said that the best workout you can do is the one you’ll stick with. For me that’s CrossFit. Just ignore all the hate and if you enjoy it keep going. Do be careful in the beginning and focus inform. Don’t get caught up in the need to be the best at exercising.

    I go to a CrossFit gym to use the implements sometimes.
    Most of the girls into it are quite built. Some obviously on Var or similar, but the regular ones still all have nice thick thighs and ass. The guys however are either jacked and seem juicy, with a few decent Natty physiques but far more in the skinny/dyel zone relative to the number of girls who are in better shape. It’s weird, like the workouts have more cardio demand for guys and more strength demand for girls or something.

    That’s for the decently serious ones who do CrossFit workouts outside of class. The classes are mostly moms and dads, and some younger dyels. The trainers are pretty average same as most gyms. I think that’s why the memes on here, 70% of people it’s doing bad form OLY plus cardio and only group classes. 20% are more serious and fit with dyel guys and brap hog girls with decent shoulders. 10% are in great shape and a lot of those aren’t Natty and/or don’t train “CrossFit”.

    The concept of WODs is pretty silly but makes it simple for people to train without thinking. The structure of WODs and events is also physiologically wrong for maximising training no adaptation. Which is why probably the better physiques and pro athletes follow a smarter structure. Basically…
    Conditioning heavy workouts = ampk pathway
    Hypertrophy stimulus = mTor pathway
    Very brief very high intensity conditioning may not affect as much. But CrossFit events often go on too long. So you are better off separating days or at least separating into AM/PM. You can still get strength gains doing heavy cardio after lifting, but gains may be reduced.

    I don't do it because it's clearly high risk of injury regardless. Even Frank Zane said that CrossFit will make a lot of physical therapists rich.

    I will say tho.. I've delivered to about 4-5 different boxes over the years, and I haven't seen anyone who looks like the athletes at the CrossFit games.
    You won't look like that unless you're roidng.

    About 6-7 years ago the #19 girl got caught using steroids... So it's obvious the 18 women ahead of her were almost definitely juicing too.

    I have some neighbors who are CrossFit trainers. They are fricking moronic. They think that because they are hot shit in their CrossFit community that regular people like me who are not indoctrinated into their cult should also think they are hot shit. Also they think they are like on the same tier as soldiers or some shit because they do moronic challenges like doing 250 push ups a day or some dumb running challenge they did where they had to run 2 miles every 2 hours for 24 hours or something. Go look at your local crossfit gym's prices and ask yourself what about this facility is worth $120 a month? Most of these people are on PEDs too and things like the "crossfit games" aren't real they're a PR/advertising event.

    I like the idea of WODs for variety, even though they're not particularly optimal for a lot of people's goals.
    I like the idea of a dedicated gym space with quality equipment and trainers who have a good understand of a wide range of lifts and exercises.
    I like the idea of working in with sweaty varbies who most probably frick like rabbits to satisfy their exogenous hormone induced nymphomania.

    What I don't like is the cultish attitude and the price and the total lack of quality control in terms of trainers and programming. Ultimately, I get what I need with my own programming and my own weights.
    If I lived near a quality crossfit 'box' and I didn't have to pay, sure I'd probably turn up a few times a week to get a bit of variety and eye up aforementioned sweaty varbies but the whole 'do or die, working out is my life' ethos is lame. Seems like a lot of these guys are just like any other boring fricks who have to take the gym and make it their entire personality.

    Why do Crossfit when you can get into any of the above (or even take principles from all of them)? Only powerlifting doesn't have a proper comparison because it's the exact opposite of Crossfit (doing 1 rep maxes vs doing countless reps regardless of form breakdown)

    I've been doing CF for about 3 years. The most strenght gains I got, it's when im doing programs off class. 2years ago I moved out in another town. Now in this CF, the prog is not too good I believe. I'm doing Olympic lifting only 5days a week. and my strenght did skyrocket like never before.

    I miss the classes and the group effect. But it's a waste of time. Wish I'd have a bit of cardio in my trainings. but whatever.

    I remember not knowing what crossfit years ago when it was new. I was talking to a guy working in the running store and he was telling me how into it crossfit he was. I thought crossfit was parkour and I started describing parkour asking him if that was what he was doing and he got so frustrated with me, but still being nice to me because he was trying to sell me some shit merino wool running clothes or something. The emotions running through that sad man's face - I savour them to this day.
