Why does alcohol kill gains?

It inhibits protein synthesis and disrupts sleep. However the only measured decrease in muscle recovery was seen in athletes who drank 6 plus standard alcoholic drinks.

      In what time frame?

In a single night. There are other confounding variables so it’s not the most solid thing to go on, but it pretty easy to determine that drinking heavily every night isn’t going to be good for you

It doesnt, anyone who argues otherwise has no clue wtf they are talking about. Vikings used to get shitfaced while they pillaged and plundered and they were the most shredded group of men in history

the vikings probably drank mead which didnt have hops. hops gives beer its inflammatory properties and is the real gains goblin

Mead is made with hops all the time lad. In fact I have hopped mead that is currently fermenting as we speak. Hops were used as a preservative to further extend the shelf life of fermented goods. I can also tell you for a fact they more than likely drank beer on the regular and mead on special occasions. It takes around 12lbs of honey to make 5 gallons of mead, and to put it into perspective 1 commercial bee hive only make at most 60lbs a year when you move them to multiple locations and pollinate for people. I doubt they had as good of beekeeping as we do now and on top of that not all that honey is suitable for making mead too as many kinds make off putting flavors or are too acidic. Beer is much more consistent and can be made more readily year round as it only takes around 10lbs of grain to make a really solid beer, and that grain can be readily produced(especially barley) and harvested multiple times a year.

      >muh Vikings
Lad I enjoy my beer and mead but I’m not gonna cope with shit like that. Alcohol is benign for gains in low dose, like 2-3 drinks, but getting shit faced every night is alchy cope.

If you're drinking enough to get a hangover then alcohol isn't killing your gains, poor lifestyle choices are.

If you have a few drinks one night a week and don't get shit faced hammered it's not a huge deal. Just don't be a total slob about it and it's fine.

Apparently binging is worse that consistently drinking low amounts. ie 1 drink a night every day is better than 6 drinks one day a week

I mean this goes for anything and OPs post is sort of a loaded question.
      >Why do cheeseburgers kill gains?
They don't on their own, but if you're eating 2 or 3 every single day then you just have a problem with too much of a good thing. Best rule of thumb is if you're asking if it's causing issues with gains or performance, it probably is.

Your body prioritizes alcohol metabolically so protein synthesis or any other nutrient synthesis is temporarily halted. It also acts as a diuretic and your body loses water/electrolytes. As others mentioned it also fucks with rem/nrem cycling where your body is actually producing muscle. If diet/nutrition was a field where you propagate gains alcohol would be like pouring poison on the soil. A little here and there nbd, too much too quickly or for too long of a duration and you're going to have a hard time growing.
