No one here is an athlete. 90% of this board is here to look like their favorite male instagram model who they jerk off to every night. Based on the questions I see here, most of this board has no business being anywhere near a gym and I mean that wholeheartedly.
      >I've been working out for 2 months, why aren't I 225 pounds yet?
      >rate my workout of benching 5x10 for 100 pounds
      >hey guys, I want to start lifting, but I'm concerned about what shoes to wear. My reaearch tells me I need x,y,z, but based on my observations most people do a,b,C. I made a chart to detail the pros and cons of each shoe so if you could all tell me your personal experience it would help
This place is full of autistic morons who never actually talk to humans, they get their social interactions strictly from the internet. If you want real advice, ask the biggest guy in the gym.

Coping in regular gyms, doing iso exercises, and gaining bodyfat, ruining their organs for 0 functional gain whatsoever.

It's just marketing, people see gullible idiots who are willing to part with money for a "lifestyle" and take advantage of them, the entire wave of "fitness" we've seen recently is just that. I love seeing gymcels collide with reality when they actually try to do anything outside of a machine rep. Their tendons are weak, their hearts and lungs are anemic, they think if they do cardio they will lose their "gains" but don't understand what glycogen or water weight looks like.

I shit on people a decade or more younger than me while half-assing this life.

You have to be fit to play tennis but that's not what makes a good player. Hitting is all technique and positioning, there are 5th graders that can serve harder than any juiced up IST poster ever could. The rest of what makes a good tennis player is all mental, it's a head to head sport so youre not so much playing good tennis but playing well against another player. Its more like chess or fencing, than another sport like soccer or basketball or something

A few reasons off the top of my head:
    - A lot of the men in the gym got started lifting because they got sick of being Mr spooky or fat. Their idea of a strong/fit male is often a weak man's idea of a strong man. Lot of ripped guys with thin necks.
-Being large and muscular is a Katana, it was super overhyped for a long time, then people recoiled too far the opposite direction and try to act like there are no real world advantages to being 6'2 200lbs @14% vs the guy in op. Being big and strong is super cool, and very useful, socially.
You get all the groceries in one trip, forcing your way out of a rear naked by answering the phone, really any physical endeavor, except endurance sports, is better met with a lean body and well developed musculature than muh superior speed body.
-Being jacked is what the Swarm demands right now, you gotta be bigger to stand out, especially on social media. Zooms pop sarms like candy and if you want to compete as a fellow What's Animaniacs?, you will feel pressure to as well.

Yeah, it's usually silly getting big like a dude with a pro card, but almost nobody does that, even roiders. The point of diminishing returns on muscle mass isn't until well past "toned skinny guy", Naruto lied.
I want to add that I'm not a roider or justifying becoming large at the expense of your life, only arguing that going wayyy past OP is totally worth it. I am not quite to my natty limit, but I won't stop till I'm there, God willing.

As a man, the reason we strive to look like meat machines is because... Well, eventually, it'll be "enough." Enough to please most women and impress most men. Enough for us to protect our wives and children from harm, or to secure them if we have none. Enough for us to be so satisfied with our accomplishments that we can finally forgive ourselves, and cease remembering past mistakes. Enough for us to set a good example for others. Enough for us to look at the sky and ask, "Father, are you looking down on me? Have I become strong? Are you proud of me?" Enough that we won't go insane with grief and regret in the final moments of our lives, thinking "If only I'd done more!" Natty or roider, it doesn't matter... We all lift for the same thing, and that thing is "enough." The only thing is, that none of us know what "enough" looks like. Shredded physiques are a dime a dozen. They don't impress us like they should. Anybody can look that way, if you watch what you eat and move around a little. But we see the statues of greater men than ourselves, we hear stories about them, and about the labors they undertook to become that way... And we can't help but think to ourselves, "Yeah, that's enough." If you really think about it, that's the whole of human history. It's an innocent motivation. We just want enough.

That's called insecurity not motivation. Motivation is when you do something because it excites you not because you need for it to eventually be "enough"

plenty of people want agile athletic bodies its just that muscles are an easier way to peawiener that you're "fit"
generally speaking muscles are easier to achieve comparatively because all you have to do is lift weights and eat properly vs being "agile athletic" requires significantly more practice in advanced motor movements and endurance in some capacity
normies think that muscles = athleticism but if you're knowledgable you'll know that movement = athleticism

I'm already tall and wide shouldered, I realised after a year or 2 I really don't need to artificially induce hypertrophy through some autistic spreadsheet bullshit plan. Or be a glutton. Bodybuilding was invented by a israelite 100 years ago, it's better to go with the tried and true methods healthy people have always used. I also lift stones and do calisthenics.
