Because you geeks told me it would save my spine but all it did was halt my gains

Because it doesn’t shear or damage your spine like the powershitter community loves to do.
Seriously though everyone is built different.
For some people, bending over and pulling a bar like in normal deadlifts/rows generates minimal shear on the spine.
Regardless of muscle strength, it could be the way their attachments are, their hip mechanics, it’s complicated.
For others, the movement is less natural, yet they can make equivalent gains doing hexbar deadlifts/rows.
And that’s okay, because guess what?
    IT DOENST FRICKING MATTER.
Pulling a barbell directly in front you translates to nothing useful in real life.
    Likewise with hexbar pulling.
But they both build muscle and strength in that specific movement.

Yeah because it turns a hinge movement into a modified squat.

RDLs with a trap bar rip my hammies off the bone like no other hip hinge. I don't know or care about le science behind it

Idk, tried it, it felt more like a squat than a deadlift. And if I wanted that, I would just squat

This. It transforms a hip hinge into an inferior squat.
When you've actually made some gains, you need to train muscles in quite a targeted way to make them grow. You should have a quad lift in your training program that lets you bring your hamstrings to your calves for a really solid ROM, & you should have a hip hinge that really lets you hinge your hips & target your glutes, hams & lower back hard. Trap bar deadlifts are the jack of all trades master of none. You should only do them if your competitive aspirations align with them, for example strongman training involving axle car deadlifts, since the movement pattern lines up.

It's just a low bar squat that also trains your forearms and traps. Stop being autistic. It's great for hitting a ton of muscle at once then you can add accessories like hack squat machine for quads or rdls for hams.
