Why doesn't fit like bread? I love it I eat it everyday, like my parents and their parents did. With a salad or cheese or paté or charcuterie why don't you like it? You can toast it or let it soak your gravy or soup it's delicious you should try it. Crispy outside, a little burnt, hmmm. And then warm and soft inside, sour sometimes give it a try fit!

a lot of rules regarding 'fortified' bread were put in place around the time of WWII where it wasn't uncommon for people to be so poor that they could only afford bread, although nowadays its completely unnecessary and note that I'm not defending garden gnomeery

What anon said, BREAD ain't half bad for you however in the US "bread" isn't bread unless you deliberately buy like hippy shit that is marked up massively on account of it actually being bread.

I pay $4.25 for a loaf of fresh baked bread vs. $2.50 for a package of sliced garbage. Yeah, it's more money, but $1.75 isn't going to break the bank.

That these things are illegal in Europe but common practice in America:
          Cows get injected with hormones
Veggies get sprayed with pesticide that has been linked to brain damage
          Chicken caging
          Growth feed for live stock
Artificial flavours and additive in everything (while not illegal in Europe it's not in anything because you have to put big warning labels if you do)
          Corn syrup in everything

          Eating in America is FUCKED

        Yeah it's mostly flour.
So it's wheat. Which is carbs with no nutritional value whatsoever.

        Don't get me wrong, if you're a starving peasant, it's a godsend.

It's got the most protein out of any carb source out there. Absolutely mogs rice and corn. Potatoes have better micros but bread has enough to genuinely make a difference towards hitting goals. Unless you want to eat beans every meal it's the best way to get carbs in

Your body literally, not figuratively, but literally runs on carbs. When you eat fats and proteins they're just converted to cabs first so your body can metabolize them.

Lololol, in the US most people's "corner of their street" is either a) another fifty blocks worth of suburban hell or b) nothing because they live in the boonies.

And also America sucks corporate dick so hard that only in the most upscale of neighborhoods will a local bakery actually see success and that'll be because they overcharge and thusly can afford to fight off corporate bullshit overtaking their territory.

    Bread is tasty.
But in terms of nutrition, it's terrible. There is no value in it whatsoever, it's just pure carbs, pure calories. No good macros, no good micros.

If you're not dirt poor, there is no reason to eat bread.

Bread is only okay if it comes from flour made from whole ancient grains, and it's fermented with sourdough for at least 18 hours. There's only one bakery in my city which does exactly this, god bless them.

Why are you okay with such mediocrity? You will never achieve Greatness as a baker. Never live up to your full potential. It's a job for conquered slaves, and your ancestors frown upon you. They didn't toil and die in war for you to spend your life baking bread like some peasant.

It's only mediocrity if the bread sucks. If it's good stuff, that's Greatness, and no amount of judgment from some gay who expects good shit to just fall out of the sky while everyone tries to be a famous billionaire instead can take that away. I want to live in a world with good food, good wine, driving cars that get fixed with good work, and driving them fast on roads that are smooth and clean. I want plumbing that gets kept up well. I want to walk on beautiful floors and sleep under sturdy roofs. EVERYONE who contributes to this grand world I want and does it well is Great. Honors upon all of their houses, all of their families, without reservation.

I started baking break half a year ago or so. Not sourdough, but fermented for a few hours with a minimum amount of yeast. Once you start making it a routine it only takes a few minutes in total to get top tier bread. Haven't bought bread in the store ever since.

Can't eat bread because it was not a staple here until only a few hundred years ago, it was fish, meat, dairy/eggs and beets/turnips and the like. Most people get the shits from bread and it caused a massive dental problem lasting to this day.
If you go to middle-east and similar areas where they've been farming and eating grains for 10000 years you'll see fewer issues though it still fucks your teeth and jaw.
