Why dont calisthenics guys progressively overload their exercises by dirty bulking into oblivion and doing the same exercises while obese?

Why don’t calisthenics guys progressively overload their exercises by dirty bulking into oblivion and doing the same exercises while obese? Would theoretically work right?

Calisthenics dudes aren't dumb enough to make themselves obese while "bulking".

yes but the only way to do this without failing your skills training is to keep it in the minimum range of maybe one or two specialties you have.

because it's more about getting stronger to achieve harder movements/poses, with your method you'd be forever confined to the base exercises. It should work for muscle building tho

Unironically I think its why most of them stay small. Too concerned with upping rep numbers and learning variations over gaining muscle. The ones that eat get decently huge

No one gets huge as a natural idiot

    >Would theoretically work right?

Not really, no, although it depends on a few things.

Endurance athletes? No. Endurance training will condition your body into an equilibrium between having enough muscle and not weighing too much. However, if you take a look at Usain Bolt's legs, you'll notice they're fairly hypertrophied.

It also varies depending on the type of exercise, whether you use any equipment (presumably, no, but what I'm getting at is cyclists tend to be the exception because the extra weight from their muscles, when combined with the power of the wheel, is negligible compared to the benefits.

I guess the TL;DR of this is you can get a decent body, even some impressive hypertrophy, but nobody would/should use calisthenics for hypertrophy.

      >but nobody would/should use calisthenics for hypertrophy
ring gymnasts, street workout homies, Ido portal a few years ago, etc are pretty big, dont know where youre getting that

Yeah, sure, you can get a decent body with calisthenics, I thought I acknowledged that but for some reason my writing is shit tonight.

You can get a body like Usain Bolt (plus bigger arms) with calisthenics, but that's probably the limit for most people.

But also: even Usain Bolt does strength conditioning with weights because it's, like, really good.

I'm a calisthenics guy myself, but I'll still lift because it improves your ability to do calisthenics.

Lifting really is just too good, is my point.

Assuming you wanted to build bigger muscles like a weightlifter but only using calisthenics for whatever reason, why wouldn’t it be possible to rapidly gain bodyweight in order for your pullups to become harder to perform and thus gain bigger muscles

I'm sure homeostatic processes would complicate things. Like, have you tried to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time? Maybe if you've never done any conditioning in your life, sure, but the diminishing returns make it not worth it as a long term strategy. Meanwhile, with weights, diminishing returns are defeated by being able to easily increase the weight.

Homeostasis is such a powerful force it can potentially kill alcoholics. In terms of fitness it's why you don't get DOMS past a certain point, and why the third run of your life is surprisingly easy. Your body needs to be able to adjust quickly, it's one our greatest strengths in terms of our evolution and how we survive basically everywhere in the world.

    That's literally what I do
I am currently 190lbs at 5'8" working out with a weight vest doing high volume calisthenics surrounded by twinks who would rather do flips and unproductive shit

get rid of the name idiot
also be aware that you are literally doing weight training, or lifting, or whatever you want to call it. just because youre using a vest instead of barbells doesnt mean its calisthenics

The only way to train calves properly is to get fat or wear a weighted vest all day.

Yes you could do that. Or you could not be dumb and load a backpack with bottles of sand to achieve the same result.

I thought Calisthenics means that everything must be done with BW?

Only the autistic ones think like this. There is no reason why you shouldn't add weight after you have progressed from beginner exercises.

If you're aiming to be advanced in calisthenics, having a low BF% is a huge benefit. This is on the opposite end of the spectrum for elite powerlifters and strongman. They need to gain a lot of mass to lift more but that impedes any kind of growth they wanna achieve in terms of calisthenics.

the point of calisthenics is to impress women and not to get swole
its a mating ritual just like what other animala do to impress their females
note, this is a good thing
