Why is 2pl8 bench so shocking to normies?

Why is 2pl8 bench so shocking to normies? I'm a light 180lbs at 6 foot and even I can put up 2pl8 for solid sets of 8. It's not a hard achievement to get at all and yet normies are always looking when I throw it up. Its pretty rare to see anyone benching over 185lbs at my gym.

The vast majority of people that go to the gym do it extremely casually and/or will stop going within 2-3 months. This means that unless they were humongous or have outrageous genetics, they will never bench above 200lbs (>inb4 someone starts to scream about how they reached 2pl8s in 3 weeks back in high school). The average bench press I see in my gym is 155lbs and a decent bench press (for the average person in my gym) will cap out around 185. Most people don't care/know about nutrition/recovery/programing/etc and just come in, do a few reps of something that feels heavy for them, then leave. That's why any random autist from IST that takes lifting seriously enough will more than likely outlift the average normie, while also having their own views skewed by IST and social media.

If you think normies are impressed by a two plate bench press, you should see their response to my 3.5 plate squat. I get viewed as some godlike ubermensch while warming up with 315.

            Anonymous

Another question for you. How long did it take you to go from 3pl8 to 400 and did you bulk for most of it? I’m the guy doing 330. Currently 6’0 210lb and hoping to hit 4pl8 within 2 years. I’ve been lifting consistently for about 5 years

              Anonymous

Uhhh I hit 3 pl8 sometime in 2017 I think, started lifting seriously in 2015, so about 5 years to hit 400. Probably could have been faster if I had good programming the whole time and tracked my diet better. I had a couple cuts along the way too but mostly bulked. Sheiko's programming has been incredibly helpful for me to hit 400. Went from 345 to 385 in 22 weeks using his advanced medium load spreadsheet, then did some other programming and spun my wheels for a while, then got Sheiko Gold, spun my wheels for almost 40 weeks trying to figure out how to get my bench to move, when it finally did after about 4 weeks of exclusively 6x benching with only comp, 3 ct, and 5 ct bench as variants.

              >Either roided or obese
              >Is obese
              It's like I said

You also said most likely larp, so wrong

              >265 2 inches taller than me
              >currently 166

yeah I'll take my bb workouts and hot bawds checking me out instead thanks

Bulk you twinkshit, it's good for you.

Go on a cut buddy. I used to be an almost 300lbs bloatmaxxer benching 400lbs but its not worth looking like complete shit and having people treat you like shit

I'm planning on cutting eventually. But 405 bench first. And I'm treated just fine. And honestly don't care about lifting for aesthetics, it's completely repulsive to me. The main enjoyable thing about lifting for me is watching the numbers go up.

                Anonymous

Hmm interesting. Thanks for the info. I hit 3pl8 about 4 months ago, so my bench went up 15 pounds in 4 months. Hopefully I don’t end up stalling. I don’t really want to bulk hard to hit 4pl8 but will if I have to. I’m already 28 years old and want to hit 4pl8 and retire because I’m kind of sick of powerlifting lol

                Anonymous

                >And I'm treated just fine.
Cope. Fat people are treated worse than healthy weight individuals. There are literal studies on this. Lose weight and see how much better you're treated.
                >And honestly don't care about lifting for aesthetics, it's completely repulsive to me.

I mean I have a fiancee, a good job, etc. I barely go out so there's not really much benefit to be gained from an aesthetics point of view. The fact you're insisting on it seems more like projection than anything else.

                >Hates beauty
I respect bodybuilders and what they do, it's just not for me. It's the training itself that I dislike, not the aesthetics.

                Anonymous

I’m fairly skinny and I respect strength more than I respect aesthetics. People who lift for aesthetics just seem vain abs typically have dysmorphia. People who lift for strength IMO are more well adjusted and just treat it like a hobby or self improvement.

At 6'3 190lbs 2pl8 is hard, my ROM is the size of a manlet.
Lots of fats bench 2pl8 though, they use their b***h breasts to cheat on ROM

I hit 200x5 yesterday and felt good. I would say that's a bit above average at my gym but not impressive.I've been lifting for 8 months pretty seriously. I'm also 145lb though. I am hoping to hit 315 in a year or two but I'll have to put on weight to do that. Anything over 300 is solid imo

200x5 at 145 is really solid. If you can bench 50lbs over bodyweight for reps that puts you above 99% of lifters probably

Cursed as hell here. I have been benching for years, eating so much that I'm fat, sleeping 8 to 10 hours a night, pushing sets to spitting, screaming, blood faced failure, high reps, lower reps, deloads focusing kn perfect form, etc.

I can barely bench 200 for 1RM on a good day.

Just recent joined a gym (been doing all this with a home barbell, so not a lot of variation) so I'm gonna try to start doing all kinds of variations with machines, dumbbells, different angles, etc. Not sure what else to try.

Because it’s actually really hard for most guys to do natty even though everyone on here is shredded and benches 400. I was bigger than most guys and played defensive end in high school and I only benched like 250 natty. And I was stronger than most guys I knew after college. It’s only a joke once you start frauding. It’s something like 1% of men can bench 225. So you’re more likely to meet a guy 6’4 than a guy who can bench 225

Nearly everyone at the ymca I go to benches over 2pl8 so I'm not sure where you're coming from.
