what do you want to discuss?

      Anonymous

It actually works if you fricking do it. There is nothing to discuss. It just works. Don't want to do it? Then don't expect results. It does in fact work I have done it but the thing is it will make you lose weight and to me this goes completely against gaining to get stronger so its hard.

It was quite tragic really. They kept pushing the boundaries by doing longer and longer fasts. Eventually they all starved to death

        >eat significantly less than usual (calories in)

not much to discuss really, its as simple as just eat less bro

who said anything about weight loss?

      Anonymous

Literally everybody knows that. Fasting works because you eat less times in a day so you are less prone to eat random shit.

        Anonymous

exactly this. I do one meal a day, of anything whether that be garbage or chicken and a potato. dont count calories or macros and ive lost 80lbs (335lb to 255lbs)

      Anonymous

It is a part of it but not the whole thing.

I fast for autophagy, the anti-inflammatory effect and because it makes me feel good, not for weight control.

The human body evolved health-enhancing processes which only activate in a fasted state. Feast and famine is the natural way of eating, not this 4 square meals and snacks inbetween bullshit that capitalism came up with.

Digesting food 24/7 is making you weak.

I suppose once you understand the basics of fasting, you don't really need a general for it anymore. That being said, it would be good to have one for people who are new to fasting.

I used to do /fast/. It really works, I can’t deny it for a second. The problem is I was always so exhausted and light headed. “B-but the snake j-juice!”. No. I’m not doing all that. I know Reddit still has a page for that if you’re interested.

For me I just realized lifting works better. I lift 5-6 times a week. Yeah, it’s putting in the hard work, going to gym in the rain or waking up on my day off just to gym. And dieting of course too. But lifting paired with CICO, I’m not ever light headed or super tired.

      Anonymous

lifting + OMAD is really the best way to do it.
You get the increase in HGH and fat burning, without the weakness if you eat before the gym. Can do a 48 hour fast if you're on a rest day too.

        Anonymous

This is what I do. IF is just caloric restriction on easy mode. I never feel better or train harder than when I'm doing OMAD/20:4 or thereabouts. Like so many other things (keto) people turn it into a cult and give it a shit name.

It's not a meme, it saved me. After almost 30 years it's the only diet that has worked for me and I am finally making progress for the first time. The problem is it's so simple there just isn't much to talk about. Don't eat. There isn't really any wiggle room beyond just snake juice or whatever meme vitamins. It was nice having it as a a secondary version of /fat/ but it just doesn't have any room to grow.

I've been doing keto but plateaued. Going to start 16/8 intermittent fasting. And be more lenient when I socially eat. I won't be an autist like I have been.

    fasting is moronic

all the benefits come from your body thinking you are dying, but now it's malnourished and dying

if I wanted my body to think I was dying I could do it 100 better ways than starving it.

also I am not and never have been or will be, so that is not a real benefit

      Anonymous

what did he mean by this?

      Anonymous

Your body is malnourished while fasting unless you're already malnourished.

Your body doesn't think " it's dying" lol, great mom posting

You're right, it doesn't think it's dying, it KNOWS it's dying.

what did he mean by this?

In the last sentence I skipped typing the word fat. It's supposed to read
        >also I am not fat and never have been or will be, so that is not a real benefit

Everyone who does fasting eventually gets uncontrollable hunger and stops fasting

You cant defeat your bodies inbuilt system

Just eat in moderation and stop being autistic about it

Nobody can stick to it mate, simple as.

Every single person I know who does any kind of fasting ends up rubber-banding back like CRAZY

Even if successfully fast (Intermittently) or doing 24-72 hour fasts, even if you do this for months/years, eventually your body will fight against you and cause you to start binging like crazy because it thinks you're going to die, your body will make you develop mental illnesses and start binge eating disorder shit

And thats for the LUCKY ones, the unlucky ones develop full blown anorexia and die

          and to top it off

My grandparents all lived until their mid 90s and never fasted, they ate multiple meals a day, so I dont see why the frick id fast for "muh health and longevity"

All the old fricks in my family have health and longevity and never fast

This fasting BS comes from inverted morality. It's the same essence as saying motor oils ( aka seed oils ) are heart healthy.

In reality the best thing you could do for your body is 3 meals a day each with animal protein and fat.

You don't know shit, I just broke a 4 day fast. Ate one burger and felt completely full and satisfied with no further cravings throughout the entire day. Fasting has broken my cravings and for the first time in my life I can so no to bad food. After a month and a half of omad and fasting I have more willpower than I had in the last 30 years.

        Anonymous

yeah, shows how much you have researched...

your stomach capacity literally shrinks and you cant even eat as much if you fast regularly. just fast 48 hours eat whatever you want (you wont be able to eat much) and then do another 48 hours. and its wayy easier to not have to worry about macros, calories, types of food. just sit back and relax and drink some water.

Don't question it, these are the same people who are quick to call fasting ketolard shit despite me refeeding with high carbs if not nothing but carbs at times with zero consequences. I don't know who hurt these people or why they come into these threads to spread misinformation that contradicts even basic logic backed by science, my personal theory is they're losing weight like, only one pound of fat a month while we're losing 20 in two to three and they're just angry we're going faster and using short cuts they're unwilling to because they think it's a race for some reason.

I've unironically been doing IF for the past 5 years or so. Granted there's been days during those years where I ate outside of the allotte period but have been very consistent with it overall. It's good imo it doesn't inhibit my growth the only thing that sabotages me is myself when I decide to stop lifting for a month because of some depression or other. During that time fasting is even more important as it ensures I don't become American

      > Nutrient timing cucks the long term faster.

Fasting is great short term for a quick cut as long as you hit you calorie goal when you break fast, but long term your body can have issues taking in past a certain amount of protein in a single sitting without turning it into glucose and urea.
