They don't train hypertrophy, only strength.

Having tons of muscle means moving a lot of extra weight and blood having to pump through the muscle making you tired.

Muscle and strength doesn't make you a good boxer. Power comes from rotation, acceleration and mass.

Muscle and strength doesn't make you a good grappler, technique does. Once you have good technique, added muscle DOES help. See: Gordon Ryan and all the guys at heavyweight in adcc (untested).

      >muscle doesn't make you a good boxer
      >power comes from acceleration (how hard you can move your body with your muscles) and mass (how heavy your body is)

      wow you are moronic lmao

i guess they have weight classes in combat sports to prevent the lighter dudes from having an unfair advantage

Acceleration comes from the rotation of your hips and how quickly you can extend your arm... Go watch a bodybuilder try to hit a heavy bag. It's pretty embarrassing.

Also mass is included in what I said... Which is why there are weight classes....

        Yikes bro.

To add to this, also imagine trying to recover from 2-3hrs a day of sport specific training, just to add on top of that
a bodybuilding style of weightlifting. It's very hard to recover from that unless you're on PEDs.

A lot of the muscular guys have very good genetics. But those genetics aren't required to be a good fighter.

        >bodybuilder
        >unless you're on PED
homie every body builder on earth is on PED's and half of mma fighters too... the testing is a joke

Lol. Do you unironically think elite fighters are natty?

OP didn't specify mma or boxing, or elite level...

Mikey musumeci and rutolo brothers are both elite competitors in BJJ and I would be shocked if they were on PEDs.

They most likely are. Not for size or streght but just for recovery so they can crank out as many training hours as possible. People really underestimate how much steroids are being used

You should listen to the JRE podcast with Mikey. He doesn't even eat meat and gets most of his calories from pizza and cheese. I would be embarrassed for him if he was taking drugs before fixing his diet.

How do people still fall for this moronic shit?

This is what I mean by being cynical and sceptical. That kid hasn't seen natty in a long time, otherwise his hormone balance would be all whacked. All testosterone down the drain so to speak

Conditioning, endurance, strength, and, of course, technique are all much more important than being jacked. Someone with a bodybuilder physique would tire out faster because, although they're strong, they have a lot of mass that requires more energy to move and pump blood to.
