I’d actually eat bugs if they were readily available and protein rich. Don’t care that it’s bugs if it helps me get fit
Same shit with organ meats. Why would only certain cultures eat liver? Or tounge? Brain? Testicals? It’s all tasty, I’ve tried it

Agreed. I know that its a meme but some bugs are actually very protein/nutritional rich.
If crickets were more affordable and easier to come by I would definitely incorporate them into my diet (just look at those nutritional values damn).
It will always be a meme though, /misc/ likes to rant how thats the only thing you will be able to eat in the future but the fact is that you can't buy bugs in a store anywhere close to me.

Keep in mind that bugs flour has shitty absorption, it's close to vegan protein. You need to increase the intake of bug flour 20%-40% to compensate. I have done the math, and at that level bugs flour isn't good for cutting. It could be used for maintaining if you barely eat nothing but bug flours and vegetables/low cal stuff

I'm mostly worried about bugs having good macros if you don't look into it but then it would turn out they are very poor in micro nutrients and have a terrible amino acid profile or something like that.
Just like with other goyslop where even the "healthy" alternatives are still junk that you shouldn't eat consistently.

I mean, so, really the question is why is it ever cheap?

The source for all food energy on the planet come from sunlight.

Plants can use about 14% of it, and they will store about 2% overall in their body. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

Anyway, then animals need to eat those plants and they too will only store a fraction of that fraction of energy in their flesh. Of the order of 10% of that 2% (this is why we don't eat carnivores at scale btw, too inefficient - it's 10% of 10% of 2%).

This means that for the vast majority of humans that have ever lived, most of them ate grains and legumes almost all of the time, with meat being a rare treat - an old chicken, an aged cow, the occasional hunted meal. Only the hunter gatherers (back when humans numbered less than a million), Kings and modern Westerners can afford daily - or close to - meat.

Anyway, energy prices have risen. This means the price for every fundamental input to all supply chains has risen

Price of fertiliser for animal feed? Gone up - its made from natural gas (haber process)
Price of getting the feed to the animals? Gone up.
Price of heating a chicken coop? Up.
Price of shipping the chickens to the butchers? Up.
Price of running the butchery machines? Up.
Price of the plastic packaging? Yeah made from oil, its gone up.

Why has it gone up? Ideologically, the US - a major energy exporter - decided to less of it because it's worried about CO2. And then to boycott Russian energy as well after aggression.

      >This means that for the vast majority of humans that have ever lived, most of them ate grains and legumes almost all of the time
This is completely false. Humans were hunters

a lot of fertilisers came from ukraine
transport and others costs goes up after germany, sweden and more shut down almost all their nuclear reactors
whilst even farmers are being forced to close down their business as you see farmrs in netherlands becoming the
      candian truckers 2.0

the only ones to blame is the European Union and the climate alarmists pretending that the world is ending
to the point that some want to tax us for cow farts, if not that.. the windpower was proven way too ineffective too.

i dont understand what makes you think we ate grains unless farmers were taxed by nobles during medieval times,
wild animals breed out of control in notime and meat would never become a rarity unless the hunting was out of control
and the average person was taught of how to hunt through family and culture.

you can only blame your own countries politicians for not investing in the 4th generation nuclear reactors instead of these
      highly ineffective wind turbines

    i dont think it is
i mean everything has gone up in price so its relative.
actually quite the opposite, i don't buy greens, herbs, fruits, berries etc. because they are so fricking expensive. 150g of raspberries/blueberries (fresh) whateverthefrick is like 5-6€. meat has always been comparatively very inexpensive. but now that everything has gone up like 200% in price yeah meat is expensive too, like all other products.

This. A small box of strawberries (idk the weight but definitely under 1lb) is like $4. That goes up to $7 for organic. And this is now when they're in season.
Meanwhile chicken breast is $3/lb, chicken thighs are $2/lb, and I can find 90/10 organic ground beef for $6/lb. Per serving thats even cheaper than tuna ($2/can for not bumbleshit) or deenz ($2 for Seasons, $3 for King Oscar). And all of that without even discussing organ meat.

buy frozen you fricking moronic mong. fresh shit is trash compared to frozen fruits and veggies. frozen are flash frozen 99% of the time and their nutrient profile is far better than “fresh” shit in the box. I can buy 2lbs of frozen blueberries for $12. 1lb of frozen broccoli florets is $4.50. also to you morons complaining about meat price, exit the city. I am buying chicken for the same price at sam’s club, I get like 15 boneless skinless breasts for $20.

Topsoil is eroding, aquifiers are draining faster than they are replenished, all signs point to overpopulation that needs to be handled or we will experience a cataclysmic collapse in living standards. This is even more important if the murmurs out of ARAMCO are correct, and the Middle East is running out of oil. Clamping down on dysgenic fertility globally is, I think, a better solution than collapsing like Greertards would prefer.

Too bad they're doing the opposite. Subsidizing third world population growth with gibs to africa while at the same time discouraging high IQ populations from breeding.

The JMGreer collapsetards aren't at the wheel, simultaneously fortunately and unfortunately. Unfortunately, because they are cognizant of resource scarcity. Fortunately, because their solution is just collectivization into subsistence agriculture.

                > Subsidizing third world population growth with gibs to africa
Unfortunately. However, they've also been promoting homosexuality, birth control, women's education, and similar programs to mitigate the locust swarm. Just not feeding them would be better.

                >while at the same time discouraging high IQ populations from breeding.
Yes, but also know. The wealthiest are breeding above replacement, as are the lumpenproles. However, the 95-110IQ middle class who can do things like keep power stations and food processing plants from catching on fire is having their fertility crushed.

It's really not so bad. I shop at Central Market, which is the rich people market, in the next city over (Southlake, TX). Which is literally the richest city in the United States, and just this weekend I bought 1.5 pounds of marinated boneless skinless chicken breasts for 9 dollars. That seems pretty reasonable, considering it should be one of the most expensive places possible to shop.

I didn't say it's cheap, I said this is likely the most posh you can find, and it's still quite reasonable.

        >Southlake, TX
        >richest
Not even close. Atherton, CA's median income is literally double Southlake at over 500k. Scarsdale; NY, Hillsborough; CA, Cherry Hill; CO, Los Altos; CA... I could go on but Southlake doesn't even make the top 20. I live in Chevy Chase, MD, which is in the ballpark of Southlake (about 200k vs 240k median household income), and it's not the cost of goods that makes the place nuts, it's the real estate. Food isn't going to be 3-4x as much just because our median income is 3-4x as much as the national median. There is of course higher priced options in these places, like a Michelin star restaurant, but a pound of beef (assuming the same grade) isn't going to vary by 3-4x.

pic related. I'm sorry you're so angry. I've lived in DC as well. Some day when you grow up and move out you can leave the east coast and maybe chill out a bit.

My friend’s grandpa throws away calf liver because his customers don’t want it. I get it for free. This kind of thing is common. Don’t be a sperg. Talk to butchers. Make friends at farmers markets.
