    imo because there was a huge trend in the past to skip the lower body because most people are afraid to squat and deadlift. i think nowadays we err too much on the lower body side, and should start focusing on the upper body a bit more.

    Because all athletic movement is going to be based around your legs and ass. Literally try doing anything sitting down and you will realize how much legs+ass supports your movement
