The thing is my back never hurts otherwise. Only when im planning to go a gym. Is my body trying to tell to not go to a gym?

    I herniated 4 disks deadlifting
Just stop deadlifting and squatting and save your spine

disc herniation usually happens over a long course of time, its usually inaccurate to blame a single event
regardless, how many reps would you typically deadlift, and was your form good

I'm newish to lifting and have a herniated disc in my lower back and have been helped a lot by deadlifts and back extensions (and core and hamstring/glute work)
I was legitimately curious since there seems to be no consensus on deadlifts viability in that regard

I had a herniated disc at 18 and my advice is to start walking, taking anti-inflammatory meds and take a 2 day break from the gym

Don't deadlift it's simply not worth the risk when you can do many alternatives and build a strong lower back.

Also try to do yoga/stretch every day. Even if you just do it for 10 minutes before bed try to make a habit. You will reap greater rewards the more time you put into flexibility/mobility and I personally treat it as seriously as I do working out.

Do step ups with a high enough box where you can lay forward towards your leg. 10 reps per leg and then 10 box jumps. Should fix your issue.
