Why pay for a gym membership or make space for a ton of expensive home gym equipment, when I could swing a cheap portable kettlebell for a few mins in the morning and evening, do some crunches before bed, and run around the park for 30mins twice a week. This won't make one jacked but surely you can't look shit or be in bad shape from doing this. Isn't this enough to out IST 95% of men?

Yes, I guess you COULD be a total homosexual, but why would you want that?

I'm mid thirties and it's not realistic or necessary for me to become a roidtroony or powershitter. Frankly, lifting for hours every week just feels like a waste of time when I can take a month off (Due to illness, injury, laziness, etc.) and lose all my gains, as I have many times. I want to do something minimal, cheap, "good enough" and sustainable, to not look like shit or be a lazy slob.

I just got a kid and I cannot be arsed to go to the gym seriously because it bores the frick out of me (I have done it on and off for 10 years without results because I don't have the focus) my plan is to do and improve on doing push ups and pull ups with variations. I work a heavy labour job so my body gets the slowly dad-workout there too. On Fridays I'm thinking I will go to the gym at my job and just do power cleans and squats for 40 min.

    Opinions?

This is a good list but doing your first chinup is incredibly difficult unless you're a skinny. If your muscles aren't strong enough, jumping to lower yourself down is just going to tear your shit up.

If those jumping ones are too hard for you, you should see a doctor, unironically.

i like the idea of kettlebell swings because i find deadlifts to be the most boring exercise
but has anyone hit their balls while doing these? it also looks goofy as frick

Comparing kettlebell swings and deadlifts is like comparing taking a shit to swimming it just dosen't make sense

i knew someone would pick this apart--i dont care, i know deadlifts are fricking different, but they both are full body workouts that mostly work the posterior chain--spinal erectors, lower back, glutes, its a hip hinge. also powershitters even say kettlebell swings improve deadlift

        Yes, swings are better, seethe.

my best deadlift is 545 at 185 lbs. I think swings are superior in every way.

Your balls would have to hang down to your knees. Consider avoiding swings if you can tie your nuts into a knot I guess but otherwise it would be pretty difficult for that to happen.

yea obviously i have just heard it happen, and it worries me if i go heavier and it slips. I just wanted to see if anyone had this happen

          Anonymous

I think that can really only happen if your form is horribly incorrect and you're doing "swings" with pure arm/back, zero leg bend, and you have the arm length of a t-rex. If you're partially squatting on the down swing then theres no way the kettlebell should hit your nuts. It should be down by your calves.

or you can do burpees like a crazy motherfricker without the jump so you can concentrate on the squat.

how do you even use Kettlebellswings for cardio?

      Anonymous

Swings for time EMOM style or just do sets of reps with some rest. 15-30 minutes each day should do it.

should I use a heavy(er) weight how many reps per minute?

Depends on how good are you at swinging. I use 53/70lbs bells for swings. Usually go for 10x15 after strength training. You can go for 30 seconds work/30 seconds rest. Repeat for as long as you want.

i have a 28kg kettlebell, and i can do about 20 swings in just under 30 seconds. if you do EMOM, you can do 20 swings every minute and have 30 seconds of rest. Currently, i've been doing dead clean thrusters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EMjGhN0vvc&ab_channel=OPEXFitness
it's actually ridiculously difficult, but i did about 50 reps in 17 mins with rests, and finished up with 100 swings.
