Personally starchy shit like bread and rice just gives me brain fog

Carbohydrates aren’t bad for you it’s just bread and rice are calorically dense and highly processed

People who want to do high protein and be in ketosis are essentially wanting to use their excess fat as energy as a substitute for the lack of carbohydrates they’re eating while on Keto

Stuff like Fruits and Vegetables are also Carbohydrates and the latter is good for losing weight due to it being low in calories but being very filling

Calories are calories. Humans are omnivorous and there are indigenous human populations who get 80+% of their calories from carbs (just as there are those who get 0%).

The only reason to restrict carbohydrates is if you're cutting; rice, bread, pasta are very easy to overeat and blow through your calorie budget. Better to get them from fruit, veg, tubers and beans.

                >Given that the PUFA content of traditional Arctic diets may compensate for the genetic
reduction of CPT1A activity, and that the absence of urinary ketones found in early
studies in North America may reflect fat adaptation and limitations in testing technology,
current speculation about the lack of a ketogenic state in traditionally living Arctic
peoples cannot be considered settled. Further studies of carriers of this gene variant in
the appropriate context are warranted. If further studies confirm that Arctic populations
avoid ketosis on traditional diets, this would not necessarily eliminate the hypothesis
that long-term ketosis is safe for other populations, nor even that there were none. On
the other hand, if ketogenesis is rescued by the appropriate dietary context, this casts
doubt on the hypothesis that chronic ketosis is detrimental, because we would have a
                demonstrated precedent.

Good carbs are complex like potatoes, they dont spike blood sugar as much and are low glycemic.
If you eat very fresh meat there is still some healthy glucose in the meat especially in the organs.
Bad carbs are simple like softdrinks and candy. It will increase blood sugar fast and lead to binge eating. Slop is worse than normal carbs because its highly processed and contains plant and seed oils.

          >Good carbs are complex like potatoes, they dont spike blood sugar as much and are low glycemic.
you are delusional. potatoes spike bloodsugar extremely easily. the "complex carbs" are being broken down into sugars while in your mouth already.

            Anonymous

yes I used the wrong example food, I meant low gylcemic carbs, potatoes are not.
And the point of carbs is that they are converted into sugar, because some amount of sugar is needed by the body. Just not as fast and combined with plant oils, flavor enhancers, processed fructose, pesticides and so on. I refuse to believe those two are the exact same variants of carbohydrates.

eat carbs that are beneficial for you as a whole, don't focus on carbs itself. Example is berries. filled with antioxidants, vitamin C, and packed with polyphenols. Same for fruits.
foods like rice and breads are just plain ol carbs that don't have anything beneficial to them. if you eat rice, use it as a carrier. Example is the Japanese bowl called Tamago Gohan (egg rice). literally just rice with a raw egg in it.
I eat it almost daily(though I stick to separating the egg white from the yolk and using the yolk in the rice, and cooking the white and putting it on top of a ground beef patty I eat in the same meal).

Amerimutts, being heavily mixed with non-whites, cannot digest carbs correctly. That is literally all there is to low carb. Pure or reasonabl pure gentics have no problem at all with carbs, seeing as there was no low carb culture before the race mixing in America, ever (neither Mongols nor Eskimos actually ever ate keto/low carb all the time).

easy, you eat 1kg of potatoes and feel nothing, hungry in 30 min. utterly pointless.

I don't it. I don't find plain rice particularly easy to eat in large quantities by itself, potatoes even less so. I absolutely couldn't eat 1kg of plain potatoes, unless they were doused in butter (i.e. it's no longer really a carb meal).

          >I don't find plain rice particularly easy to eat in large quantities by itself,
I can eat 600g(dry) of brown rice by itself in one sitting.
          >potatoes even less so. I absolutely couldn't eat 1kg of plain potatoes,
just plain potatoes, bit bland, but more important it doesn't satiate in the least
          >unless they were doused in butter (i.e. it's no longer really a carb meal).
correct, mixxing carbs and fats is the dumbest thing ever. It should either be carbs or fats, putting them together is maximum "I want to bloatmax"

I think this is why the issue is so contentious. Some people seem to have some weird metabolic issue with carbs and overeat them. I physically couldn't overeat on plain carbs like white rice, let alone brown.

I am not complelled to over eat them, they just do nothing for me. It's like I didn't even eat. Or worse, I get more hungry.
Carbs are literally useful for stoking hunger and bulking through eating more.

You simply don't have this same response with meat, fat, veggies.

              >I physically couldn't overeat on plain carbs like white rice, let alone brown.
Brown has more flavor your uncultured swine!

Yeah, sounds like some sort of weird metabolic issue. If I eat a lot of plain carbs like oatmeal I feel very full on not that many calories.

I was in the same boat after being a lifelong sugar junkie, but active enough to not get fat. In my 30's I've done enough trial and error to know that any carbs will cause insane cravings for anything sweet. That's why I don't get why everyone isn't passionate on these bait threads; do what works for you. If there aren't any issues with what you're eating, don't worry about changing anything. If you're having problems with appetite or physical & mental health, maybe look into making some changes

I'm 175lbs and lean, deliberately up from 150lbs over a decade by eating a lot of processed hyperpalatable foods like McDonald's and Pizza and using weight gainers with hundreds of grams of maltodextrin in them. If I switched to eating shit like oatmeal and potatoes I would lose weight, not get fat.

    People who eat carbs:
    athletes
    bodybuilders

    People who don't eat carbs:
sedentary fat people who think that carbs are le bad

Carbs fill up your muscles with glycogen for improved athletic/gym performance, are anabolic and improve muscle gain on a bulk, and are anti-catabolic and help preserve muscle on a cut.

Look up people who run marathons while being fat adapted and havent had any carbs for months.
or hell, measure your own athletic performance with or without carbs, naturally staying on one for a couple of months at least.

So you don't have a source disproving what that anon said. You have a few isolated examples against the 99% of athletes that eat a lot of carbs.

Look I don't care what you do with your body. You want to cope and eat carbs, go ahead I wont stop you. I literally don't give a shit what you eat.
I'm telling how things are and it's up to you if you want to find out more or cope.
