It’s up to Black women, once they get fit or start idolizing fitness you’ll see ads change. Ads market to their consumer base. If the base gets better the ads will too.

Black women have bee getting more and more money in the last 30-40 years so they have emerged as a demographic relevant to advertisers. Who actually have no idea what black women want - they're still in the early stages of figuring it out. So expect to see a lot of pandering and experimentation as every "empowering" (not actually empowering at all) zog trick is pulled.

Of course, when marketers and the market as a whole actually figures out what black women really want, they will be mindfricked

        Anonymous

It is interesting because some marketers mentioned that you look what’s popular for clothes, music, dances, etc..., it will gain popularity lots of time with the rest, since they are seen as trend setting to lots of the younger crowds. Btw, what do black women want so bad?

      >Ads market to their consumer base
You know who's NOT buying fitness clothing, accessories and supplements?
You know who DOESN'T have significant disposable income to buy on commodities?
You know the sociopolitical leanings of the REAL consumers for these ads?
Think about things for just a little bit and you'll see the veneer is transparent.

      Anonymous

You have a naive view of this, friend. Wake up. It stopped being about money a long time ago. The marketing no longer reflects the consumer base; the marketing is now created to modify the consumer base. They are forming us to fit their marketing, not forming their marketing to fit us.

If marketing was just based on a pure profit maximization strategy, nearly all ads (except some niche products geared toward specific consumers groups) would feature white women as they spend the overwhelming majority of American disposable income.

Gatorade isn’t making this ad to reach the untapped obese black female demographic. Gatorade is part of a much larger psyop designed to promote and normalize fringe ideologies and concepts that are naturally rejected by Americans. It is a concerted propaganda effort. They don’t even care if they lose money on it. Much of marketing today is an insidious act of psychological warfare against you and your family by hostile actors. Whether or not you buy the product is inconsequential as long as they gradually convince you and your children to accept the ideologies they promote.

Spotted the guy who never did enough sport to break a sweat lol.
Once you've lost a few days worth of sodium intake from sweating (meanwhile only drinking plain water), water rushes in your cells by osmosis and it has pretty fricked up consequences. It's called hyponatremia if you want to look it up.
Sport drinks and food with electrolytes are very good at preventing it. If you are sweating enough for long enough to warrant using them, then you'll definitely need some sort of "sugary shit" anyway so it might as well be in the drink.

    I think it’s a mass media söy-op.

Gymshark used attractive models and bodies and became a billion dollar brand, this was only possible because of their being such a high consumer desire for ads that are marketed with beautiful people. Yet all the major well known brands use uggos and fatties, where it’s common the successful up and coming brands use attractive people.

It seems that marketing with attractive people is better at least for company growth, maybe there is some weird factor that once you become a household name you just need to market with fatties and this is the optimal strategy, but I doubt it.

      Anonymous

Have we reached peak clown world, where actually using attractive and fit models as your USP? I'm afraid of what is next

      Anonymous

This. The smaller the brand, the less globohomosexual topics it uses in advertising. Fat ugly Black folk are mostly a thing with huge names like Nike (and now Gatorade). But it's also a good reminder that you have a choice what to consoom, and you don't really have to buy anything from these people.

      Anonymous

If they have enough name recognition, they get a little more wiggle room with their marketing because they don't have to work as hard to build their notoriety up or have to try and gain an established customer base. They can afford to take bigger risks like social justice/politically charged advertising which could potentially alienate a segment of consumers but at the same time also potentially generate positive PR and appeal to "socially conscious" minded consumers. An up and coming brand trying to appeal to general audiences won't want to take the risk as much and will need to play it safe by trying to avoid any controversies, while Nike and Disney can take the slight hit from conservative backlash because they already have such a huge market share

      Anonymous

Brands hit a point where they run on inertia and will get revenue almost no matter what they do. It's not like anyone sees some fatass and thinks "oh I'll drink gatorade to look like her". They just remember gatorade exists and might grab one sometime.

No. Fatties are the PERFECT consumers. They eat more, drink more, wear more fabric, drive bigger cars, use more fuel, are dumb as frick so their spending habits are moronic, and even go as far as to use healthcare more often. They are literally perfect for corporations to pander to. Why would an unhealthy, sugary "sports" drink company NOT want their consumers to be fat? To add onto it, America is just getting fatter and fatter and it's not going to get any better any time soon, or even ever, so instead of trying to make it better, just make "better" worse. Compare yourself to an unhealthy average and voila, you're no longer "fat", you're "average".
