Yes the human body and muscular development is so unbelievably fragile and delicate that a single alcoholic beverage will destroy all potential you could ever hope to have at gaining and maintaining muscle. You fricking moron

thats what most of the board would genuinely have you thinking

No, but it probably won't stop at one beer.

      okay 2 then?

It’s definitely not good for your gains but I wouldn’t say it “wrecks” them. Also being “high quality” makes no difference in the negative effects to the body
Having said that, there’s worse things that can frick up your gains like not getting enough sleep or something like that. it’s all about balance

      >Also being “high quality” makes no difference
I wouldnt say this is completely true. When I drink something expensive I never feel like shit the next morning. Only if its something cheap like Budweiser

        Anonymous

that’s because cheap beer like bud has more congeners in it which can give you a worse hangover. will make you feel shitty for sure but won’t impact muscle growth, the actual alcohol is what’s responsible for that, so unless you’re drinking non-alcoholic beer, it’s not gonna be the best for gains. But like I said it’s just one beer so although it isn’t “good” it’s probably not really that bad at all.

It’s more likely to stop at one if it’s high-quality, for the same reason that you’re less likely to overeat at a nice restaurant than when you get takeout.

You don't eat as much at a nice restaurant because they serve less food and you can stop yourself from ordering a second dinner because you have the first one in you already and also that would be embarrassing. It's not because the food has magical properties that trigger your "full" feeling at a lesser volume, you absolute fricking moron.

PilsnerUrquell is one of the best available mass market macro beers.

Better than 99% of the rest of the mass market piss water excuses of beer, this is actually a beer at least.

Pilsner Urquell is good but it's not the kind of beer you drink just one of. You can't really sip a pilsner the way you do a tripel or stout, you just drink it normally.

I do enjoy a cold beer in a hot day... but I also enjoy a coke, or a sprite, and since I quit drinking that shit, I don't see a reason to keep drinking beer as well

I understand you bro and I preach sobriety year round but you can't deny that on a vacation it's pretty nice to kick back a few beers every night when it's 30° outside and you're sweating balls all day. As long as you lift and do some cardio a few weeks of actually enjoying life won't hurt

      Anonymous

      Not at all.

If you rarely drink you can get a nice buzz from one or two drinks and that's all you really need. Once you get into your late 20s hangovers really start to suck. It's just not worth it anymore.

I'm 30 and a few weeks ago I slammed five beers, I woke up just fine and did a workout, nevertheless I understood I've gone to far and I can't keep doing this things if I want to get lean, I've cut my alcohol consumption to 20% of what I did before and god it's so hard I feel like my mind is going to drive me crazy I feel like I have to live my life for real now ,study , workout and feel my stupid feeling while before life was just shit that happened between my getting drunk sessions

No, alcohol when consumed in low amounts(1-2 standard drinks) does not inhibit gains. However it can make you fat if you don’t factor in your caloric needs so be careful. Homemade unfiltered beer will always be superior to store bought if you are wanting a “healthier” alternative, as the filtering removes proteins and yeast which are a good source of b vitamins

It's fine. Just don't drink a lot of overly hopped beers. Hops contain high levels of phytoestrogens which is why IPA drinkers are such homosexuals

I Will have to report the findings in a year or so. Doing this moronic experiment on myself where I train regulary. 15000+ steps daily but get absolutely hammered 2 days of the week. (2 bottles of red wine + some beers). I have been doing this about 3 months. I look much better already and can lift more but I would guesstimate that I would be seeing like 20% more gains If I was a sobergay.

My landlord was a pretty good gymnast in his youth and now is cycling a few hundreds of kilometers a week.
But every evening he's sitting down in the basement, drinking a few beers and smoking and still looks defined and lean. He likes beers strong in hop the most.

Jever, Warsteiner Herb from the big breweries. Best beer I had was always when bars made their own though, which was sort of common in Germany but is dying out fast :'(

Rural American here. Where do I get German beers? Here it’s either Bud Light or IPAs and I absolutely hate IPAs

I love drinking beer. So many of my activities used to revolve around drinking. Thursday used to be happy hour with friends with four PBR tall boys and four shots of whiskey.

Friday, I would drink one or two double IPAs and 8-12 beers

Saturday, I would drink 12 or more beers and whiskey

    Sunday, two to four beers.

I had to to stop. It unraveled all of the dieting I do during the week. I've was stuck at the same weight for months. So dumb. It's not worth it. My plan is to keep it to special occasions and to cut most of it out. I drink out of boredom. It's normal for my parents to drink heavily all weekend and that stuck with me. All of my friends are heavy drinkers. If I want beer, it's light beer and four max. Beer and alcohol is very calorie dense and drops your blood sugar making you hungry. Moderation is key. A few won't wreck your gains.

Unlike cigars, beer doesn't have noticeable permanent lasting damage. Each beer just sets you back. I guess if you are dedicated enough and confident you can make up for it, you could have up to 10 beers.

Unless you're drinking multiple servings in that one day, no not meaningfully. Doing it multiple times a week will. Even two beers more than 2 times a week fricks my recovery.
