No. BTW, you should be training arms with progressive overload. No, trying to do more an more reps is not progressive overload by time you get to around 15 reps. Add weight regularly. Use slow negatives. Take the arms exercise to muscular failure with good form.

        >he fell for the high volume meme
Try using heavier weight, slow negatives, and taking the curls to failure. You don't need 9 sets either.

I have found that doing a modest number of chinups - like 25 total - three days per week, grew my arms.

Do them fast and explosive. Even in sets of 1 or three if you have to. Also make sure they are full ROM.

My arms have grown. Im an old gay who did curls for years and years and never really saw growth. But after about one year of chinups like this, my arms have actually gotten almost big looking. Almost. But they have def grown.

        >Do them fast and explosive
If you can do an exercise explosively, you're not using enough weight.
        > Even in sets of 1 or three if you have to
If you're using a weight you can only do three reps with, then you're not going to be able to do the exercise explosively unless you're doing a lot of cheating.
        >full ROM.
There is no reason to believe full rom matters. For biceps and triceps, there are a couple studies showing shorter ROM giving the similar results to full rom.

        I do 50 chin/pull ups a day and have 12 inch biceps.

You're doing too many reps. Add weight until you fail within 12 reps. Eat more.

curls don't do biceps bot, supinations in external shoulder rotations do biceps
          >why u say such things, everybody knows bicep flexes elbow
does it? no it doesn't, biceps supinates forearm, elbow flexion involves multiple muscles and u need isolation so that u can get ur ultimate goal - CONTINUOUS TIME UNDER TENSION ON MUSCLE BELLY

if u don't rotate shoulder externally u aren't getting to biceps anyways, muscle fibers and tendons must be as straight as possible to get muscle to contract properly (so that u get ANY time under tension AT ALL), if shoulder is not rotated externally long head tendon has to turn forward coming off scapula, it kinks it, tendon tries to slide out of groove it has in humerus to ride in - the muscle can at best sputter in this conditions, and short head is conjoined with it
          >how the frick do u do supinations with resistence?
          belt tied on a plate
          >no u need MOAR WEIGHT
that's what dumbasses say when they have no clue
          >more weight, harder, more reps, more sets, intensification schemes - more weight will do sth for sure
sth, not necessarily sth u like, like elbow bicep tendon fricked - well if u knew how to work the muscle belly it wouldn't be the case would it bot 😀

          >more weight
          >zexplosive
lol 😀 no, it can be next to nothing if u isolate muscle and it has to work on it's own

i do around 20 supinations in external shoulder rotations for biceps, one handed of course
i can curl 50 kilo barbell, supinations are with 5 kilos, because biceps works alone, because it's isolated:D

            >it kinks it, tendon tries to slide out of groove it has in humerus to ride in
external shoulder rotation turns that groove so that it faces the other end of biceps on forearm

        >9 sets

You're using way too low weight and probably don't isolate enough

Yeah some boomer with big arms at the gym told me that chin ups blew up his arms. That's why I made this thread. I'm tired of spinning my wheels with curls

isnt it better to do it full ROM slowly? i always feel like im cheating myself out of tension on my arms when i do it fast

50 a day? That’s moronic. You need at least 48 hrs of rest after pull-ups

Why would I need rest if my muscles don't hurt and I don't find it any more difficult to do 50 pull ups the next day? That's moronic.

Frequency method doesn’t work. It’s bullshit. You need high intensity to drive growth

    Bro
I have to excercises that have been given me really good results:
    >partial preacher curls with a lot of weight
idk why it works but it works
    >partial overhead extension with a lot of weight
even if the tricep is completely contracted, just by being with your arms overhead the stretch is quite decent, so to have a really good stretch you dont need to go all the way down. Meaning you can keep the elbow in a strong position and the stretch stays the same. I rarely do these because they're so effective it takes me a week to recover. My first time doing them I got stretch marks within 1 week

    Absolutely fricking not.
    t. did exactly this for over a year and my arms only started growing from
    >weighted dips
    >dumbbell curls

I still do tons pull-ups and chin-ups, hundreds of them in sets of 15, and they're great for your back, lats, etc. It's my favorite exercise. But arms and abs love just isolations, what you gonna do
