Eat rare-cooked or raw meat, and there's enough vitamin C in highly bioavailable forms.

I heard even well done meat still contains small amounts of vitamin C, just enough to ward off any illnesses. Is that true?

The more cooked, the less there will be. But what's the problem with eating rare/raw?

Here's a study showing that meat has Vitamin C. Not sure if they talk about cooking it but you can look through if you want/can.

No. No one has ever died of scurvy on a carnivore diet and there are no cases of anyone getting scurvy on a carnivore diet. It's like the creatine balding myth. 0% factual evidence 100% ooga booga scary.

    Grass-fed grass-finished muscle meat contains Vitamin C.

Also, Vitamin C is probably the most overrated micronutrient.

Didn't pirates get it because of the lack of fruits? I feel like that is bullshit because of the dietary and lifestyle of pirates who have a plethora of other things linked to their gums bleeding and dying besides a luck of fruits and vegetables. They ate a lot of salted meats and dried preserved crackers which probably didn't help with the salty sea air. They probably got 'scurvy' from basically preserving their internal organs and airways.

        Anonymous

I looked it up and from what I could tell they ate a lot of dried beans and hardtack. Those last pretty much forever. For meat and eggs, they would keep animals on ship, but animals eventually die and they also take up a good amount of space. So I would assume scurvy was a problem when they were just eating beans and hardtack.

mostly the long haul sailors, Caribbean pirates who raided merchant ships often had low scurvy rates. they went to port often, conducted ambushes repaired on smaller islands and fished.

It was a potential problem for anyone sailing a long voyage except the German sailors who brought Sauerkraut. Eventually the Brits figured out what the Germans were doing right and why that worked. From that point on they are known as Limeys.

That's the diet they sold. Also we now have one of you carnitards saying diet with even ground meat is not real carnivore and then you saying carnivore diet isn't 100% meat.

                Polar Bears
                Sharks
                Vultures

                Anonymous

                Polar bears eat fruit.
Sharks is a good one, I think they actually eat 100% meat. Some people say they eat kelp but I really doubt that. Anyway, sharks are highly removed from humans in terms of evolutionary history.
Vultures eat palm fruit (berries) and rotting squashes and such.

So the point is that a "carnivore diet" is a highly flexible term that obviously just means an "animal-based diet," meaning a diet that revolves around foods that come from animals. Whether that's 70% meat and 30% fruit or 90% meat and 10% honey or whatever is up to the person eating the diet. "Carnivores" in nature don't eat "100% meat" so the term makes perfect sense.

Also I'm lmao'ing at the guy ITT who thinks ground beef + chicken breast + mayonnaise is a "carnivore diet" because he has 0 concept of what animals look like or do in real life. Not only does he not know you can and should eat organs and bones (he's never done that in his life because it's icky), he doesn't even know mayonnaise isn't an animal.

I truly believe he got cyberbullied by some carnivore influencer. If he ever tried a "carnivore diet" or an "animal based diet," he probably would love it, because who doesn't like meat + fruits + honey + dairy? But he's probably moronic and would eat 4 pounds of ground beef a day and then get sicky and blame YouTubers.

                Anonymous

Also when I say sharks eat 100% meat I mean they eat bones and organs, too, obviously. Not just 100% muscle meat; they eat the whole fish. I want to clarify that because it's not obvious to some people like the mentally invalid guy here that an animal isn't 100% muscle meat.

Apparently some people do well with a 100% muscle meat diet but I believe it's really important to eat bones (bone broth) and organs whenever you can. I also love fruit and honey and dairy. So I have no interest in trying a 100% muscle meat diet.

Because it takes 1 month to get scurvy when you intake 0 Vitamin C, and you're proclaiming that carnivore diets give you scurvy. So you would've got scurvy and realized the diet was bad and you wouldn't need to waste time reading any books. That's the basis of your whole argument.

You know why keto doesn't work or why people stop? Because their bodies can't handle the wrecking ball that it is. It takes time to adjust to a new hard diet like carnivore. You will never be an omnivore. You have been forced and forced yourself to adapt to a pigfeed lifestyle.

It's always the same with keto community. If you say you are feeling unwell on it, they always shift to victim blaming and shaming. Carnitards ramp that toxic behavior even higher. Just like you did. It's unbelievable how I put up with that shit for so long.

There is that fricking promise of "you just have to keep doing it long enough to feel good" that you also repeated. The initial promise is you will feel super immediately, then when you don't, they switch to "just a keto flu it goes away in a week" and then you endure it and still suffer and ask again and they saying "fat adaptation can take months!". It's an ever-moving goalpost.

Yet down the line everybody quits those moronic keto/carnivore diets, including their own gurus, so obviously the point where you truly feel the promised blissfdull wellness never happens. You just get worse the longer you do it. Been there experienced that.

This but instead I did Keto. Got so hungry after eating copious amounts of animal products and dairy, and it never filled me up. It also affected how I lifted, and I didn't function at 100 percent. Also felt some muscle mass decreasing. Keto and Carnivore Fad diets aren't sustainable. Carbs are a necessary macronutrient and important for a balanced diet.

Lol, looks like you're the one mixed up dumb frick. Carnivore tards don't digest any type of sugar. Keto tards on other hand digest artificial sweeteners and sugars.

                1. Carnivores in nature eat fruits; go touch grass

                2. Many carnivore "gurus" advocate for eating fruits and honey.
                3. Doesn't matter what I say because you both are looking for an enemy in your life because you live sheltered lives so you just make up things to attack and then attack them. So you'll say something moronic in response to this post and then talk about how moronic the thing you just described is.
                4. Go touch grass.

Prediction fulfilled haha, nice. I don't care who Shaun Baker is but I looked at 20 seconds of a video of his for you and he said that "diabetics have trouble with fruit" which is patently false.

                https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5388466/
                >Among those without diabetes at baseline, higher fruit consumption was associated with significantly lower risk of developing diabetes
                >Among those with baseline diabetes, higher fruit consumption was associated with lower risks of all-cause mortality

                https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23990623/
                >Greater consumption of specific whole fruits, particularly blueberries, grapes, and apples, is significantly associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes

Therefore, we can both agree that Shaun Baker and his position on fruits are moronic, yes?

Now back to what we were actually talking about—carnivores eat fruit, and if you deny that you need to touch grass.

Polar bears may be able to eat fruit but it is by no means necessary for their survival. The reason humans need ‘fruit’ is because we lost the ability to synthesise our own vítamín C within our bodies unlike something such as canines which create their own vitamin C. The real question you’re if boring is whether there’s any actualuality to the fact of being able to get sufficient quantities of Vitamin C through a ‘carnivour’ diet which here seems to have an arbitrary meaning depending on who you ask

                http://sciencefocus.ust.hk/post-why-humans-are-unable-to-synthesize-vitamin-c

                >‘carnivour’ diet which here seems to have an arbitrary meaning depending on who you ask
It's the same thing as with keto and communism. Whenever you point out that it didn't work, they counter immediately by claiming it wasn't real keto/communism and tell you to "educate yourself" while keeping silent about what exactly. Alternatively they reassign words and hope you agree socialism/carnivore is great. Like when Bernie called Denmark socialist (danish pm actually replied that nope never has been) and when carnitards who previously said you get all vitamin C from meat started telling people to eat fruits that that is carnivore diet.

It's extremely irritating. They all deserve good whipping. Commies, ketolards and carnitards. The more I've debated them the more I've come to hate them.

I agree fruit is not necessary for the survival of polar bears. It is also not necessary for the survival of humans.

I could provide some evidence of this or I can just ask a common sense question.

...Do you really think humans would have lost the ability to synthesize a "crucial vitamin?" Have you ever heard of something like this happening via evolution ever for anything?

                Anonymous

Did you even read the link explaining the process of how it works?. You’re right fruit isn’t necessary for human survival, Vítamín C is. Which is primarily chosen to be obtained by eating fruit.

The line of reasoning behind loss of the GULO gene within humans is due to the abundance of vítamín C sources within not only our diets but also the other primates who’ve lost it. Therefore said primates were never suffering the ill effects of not having Vítamín C because regardless of whether they had the gene they were still getting enough making it non-essential.

                A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

                Then your arguments are invalid.

Also the fact that you think that is a "real carnivore diet" with/without the mayonnaise also shows you're moronic.

You can't provide evidence of anything you're claiming, you can't even show 1 "carnivore guru" saying that chicken breast + ground beef is a "carnivore diet." Not even one.

You're making up boogeymen and attacking them because your life is meaningless and you are sheltered, but you need something to lash out at in anger. Go touch grass.

I'm bored and you are easy to make fun of because you are extremely aggressive and you don't provide any evidence of wild claims (because evidence doesn't actually matter to you, hence you not asking for evidence that meat contains Vitamin C). So you just keep saying a bunch of nonsense that is really easy to point out.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure you're autistic this point and you're starting to change the subject from nutrition to an obsession of white people, even though you (seemingly) come from a Hispanic country. In summary you’re right you can survive without fruit if you’re still consuming enough vitamin C through other sources, though I doubt you’re able to tell the exact amount through whatever other medium you’re getting from if it has any.

Ask the people who've done it for years and never got it. I never got scurvy myself. I don't know why but it seems the reigning scientific knowledge of scurvy (you don't take in enough vitamin c therefore you will get scurvy) could be wrong as seems to be the case with most "science". Either the organ meat contains high doses of vitamin c or scurvy is caused by something else ingested that rapidly saps vitamin c from the body faster than it can be replienished as seen on the ships back in high seas days. Too much salt in the salt pork barrel? How much alcohol was consumed on those ships? Etc.

Organ meat is where the shizzle is at.

Normal meat, which is just muscles, is just protein.

The liver is 'nature's multivitamin' or so I've been told.

An animal has all sorts of minerals and vitamins in them, so it serves to reason that if you eat the right parts, you get those vitamins and minerals too.

Ahaha, yes! More, give me more. Keep fulfilling my prediction, you sheltered suburban/city babies. I love it.

Also, I post in pretty much every nutrition thread I see, and this is absolutely the most immature, angriest and least comprehensible group of posters I've seen in a long time. It's lack of carbs. We need all 3 macros, simple as.
Some forms are better than others (saturated fats > PUFAs, sugars > starches, animal proteins > plant proteins) but all are needed. Your body will create carbs out of protein in carnivore because they are needed. And gluconeogenesis is a very stressful process. It also makes your piss smell like ammonia

Have you seen how much bread people eat?

      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4809873/
      >Bread and Other Edible Agents of Mental Disease
      >We present the implications for the psychological sciences of the findings that, in all of us, bread
      >(1) makes the gut more permeable and can thus encourage the migration of food particles to sites where they are not expected, prompting the immune system to attack both these particles and brain-relevant substances that resemble them, and
      >(2) releases opioid-like compounds, capable of causing mental derangement if they make it to the brain.
      >gluten stimulates zonulin
      >In all of us, zonulin increases the permeability not only of the intestinal wall, but also of other no less interesting barriers—notably the blood-brain one.
      >Exceptionally large epidemiological studies, each involving many thousands of patients, have found that celiac disease is associated with an increased risk of depression, psychosis, and autism.
      >During digestion, gluten is broken down into hundreds to thousands of fragments that are not further dissolved. Some of them resemble morphine extremely much and have thus been namedexorphins
      >Like morphine, exorphins bind to opioid receptors that are widely distributed throughout the body
      >Foods that contain exorphins, such as wheat and dairy products, have indeed a reputation for being rewarding and people find it extremely hard to give them up.
      >Evidence that a diet devoid of wheat (and possibly of dairy as well, given the similarity between gluten and casein) can cure some patients with mental illness has been available for nearly 50 years.
      >Here schizophrenia patients kept on a grain-and-milk-free diet worsened on 30 out of 39 behavioral measures when a “special drink” they were given daily contained gluten and recovered when it contained onions flour instead.
      >Actually, contrary to common wisdom, whole grains rank next to last in nutrient density among food groups

Have these people ever met anyone from Iowa? No. But they HATE them. And they make up positions and then attack those positions, just like the guy in this thread is doing about "carnitards." It's a really bizarre behavior but super common.
