I'm no biologist but I imagine that if getting rid of bad stuff was as easy as sweating, your body would do it on its owm. In my opinion there is a mix of good and bad things to come from sauna, it can increase stress, which is bad. It can frick with the relationship of the body to water (make you retain water or pass it needlessly). But raising body heat and mimicing a fever is probably beneficial in some measure. Don't fall for the ice-bath meme though, that shit will get you to produce a bunch of adrenaline and yadayadayada bad basically.

Maybe if you're autistic and the wooden heat box is overloading your senses but for the vast majority of people saunas decrease stress

This is the most idiotic, moronic, asinine thing I've seen on this board. The body would do it automatically on it's own if it was good for it? Why the absolute frick would you assume that is the case when the body does almost NOTHING like that in any other case? Does your body increase heart rate, tear down muscle tissue and repair, and stress the cardiovascular system on it's own because it's healthy? No you fricking homosexual. Damn you Black folk on here are absolutely moronic

        >Does your body increase heart rate, tear down muscle tissue and repair, and stress the cardiovascular system on it's own because it's healthy?

Yes??? LMAO if you are doing an activity that requires more oxygen to your muscles, your body increases your heart rate to get more oxygenated blood to them. If you do an activity that requires strength, your body repairs torn muscle fibers and makes you stronger. Your nervous system actively works to get better at firing neurons on response to muscle activation to so that you can do a physical activity more efficiently. You are a stupid homosexual.

If you have a functioning liver and kidneys, you have all the "detox" equipment you need. Everything else is a scam designed to sell you shit you don't require. Any product with "detox" or "cleanse" on the label is automatically bullshit.

      >If you have a functioning liver and kidneys, you have all the "detox" equipment you need.

      >Background: Individual members of the phthalate family of chemical compounds are components of innumerable everyday consumer products, resulting in a high exposure scenario for some individuals and population groups. Multiple epidemiological studies have demonstrated statistically significant exposure-disease relationships involving phthalates and toxicological studies have shown estrogenic effects in vitro. Data is lacking in the medical literature, however, on effective means to facilitate phthalate excretion.

      >Methods: Blood, urine, and sweat were collected from 20 individuals (10 healthy participants and 10 participants with assorted health problems) and analyzed for parent phthalate compounds as well as phthalate metabolites using high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

      >Results: Some parent phthalates as well as their metabolites were excreted into sweat. All patients had MEHP (mono(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) in their blood, sweat, and urine samples, suggesting widespread phthalate exposure. In several individuals, DEHP (di (2-ethylhexl) phthalate) was found in sweat but not in serum, suggesting the possibility of phthalate retention and bioaccumulation. On average, MEHP concentration in sweat was more than twice as high as urine levels.

      >MEHP concentration in sweat was more than twice as high as urine levels.

just because it doesn't detoxify you doesn't mean it doesn't have positive effects, iirc extreme heat creates a certain type of protein that has a healing effect in the body

Yes it does help. With certain poissons. Some chemikals can only getten sweat out. Some are sweat out and also bound to stuff and then discareded. Examples of chemicals you sweat out are bisphenol-A and phthalate. You should try a sauna and look how it feels. I think its good cause i feel awesome after it. If you dont like it you can easely workout and get sweaty that way)

Saunas unironically help prevent/cure cancer. Most cancerous cells can not trigger the mechanism that protects cells from heat death when in extreme heat so they die off quicker than normal functioning cell. The cancerous cell types that can trigger the mechanism release signals doing so which makes the immune system aware something is there they didn't see before, giving it more visibility to your immune system. This is why it is believed many nations who use saunas heavily have less cancer, along with other factors.

In a measure of cancer rate of 50 countries/territories, Denmark ranked 8th, so you are wrong, further sauna is not a big part of danish culture, but in Finland it is, where did Finland land on this measurement? 30th.

Hmm you know what places had the most cancer? Australia and New Zealand. It’s almost like white people not

I guess that could work on skin cells, but it's not like the sauna raises the body temperature more than perhaps a light fever. Unless of course you stay in there until death

Extreme heat? For frick's sake, saunas don't increase your internal body temperature by any significant amount. If they did, they'd kill you. Where do you come up with this shit?

I want to enjoy the sauna at my gym. There's always some homosexual in there listening to music, shadowboxing, watching videos on their phone, making a scene slurping water as loud as possible, etc. The last time I went in the sauna some homosexual was flinging his sweat all over the wall like he was trying to write some kind of message. I just want to sit there in quiet with nothing more than my thoughts.

It's not always the same person, and sometimes more than one of them are in the sauna. I think it's a completely American problem. I wouldn't mind if they were in there stretching, doing yoga, or something similar.

Highly recommend it, been doing sauna and cold exposure at least 3 times a week for more than a year now, things I noted:
      >Immune to cold and flu
      >Really hot days and really cold days do not affect me as much as they used to
      >Post workout session feels awesome
It generally make you feel better, at least that's the case for me and most of my friends.

ice bath / cold shower is a meme and stresses you out, check out nikibrahs video on it

It does stress you out, but I assume you're not educated enough about what stress is.
Being stressed out about something mentally isn't the same thing as being in controllable environment pushing your body into stressful experiences. Expending the stress treshold is real

So many morons in this thread.

Saunas are fricking awesome. Statistically, if you get proper finnish sauna sessions (no clothes, +90 celsius, at least two 15-25 minutes seatings with cold exposure in between) 4 times a week, you'll have roughly 50 percent lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease or coronary heart disease and a 40 percent lower risk of premature death from all causes. That alone is enough to take the sauna pill, but you can benefit so much more from regular use.

My gym has a sauna, it's heated 4 days a week. I always go there after working out for about 20 minutes, taking one ice-cold shower in the middle. Not sure if it helps with recovery or detox, but it just feels really fricking good. Then again, I'm Finnish, sauna is as big part of our culture as guns and Black folk are for America. I once had a competition with a Brazilian Black person who could stay longer at a 100 Celcius/212 Fahrenheit sauna. He put up a good fight and I'm confident that if he'd been going to the sauna regularly for his whole life like me, I'd have lost.

Don't have time to read the whole thread but here's the quick rundown on saunas. This is all based on science. Other benefits might be there but what we know for sure works is follows:
    >enter sauna (as hit as you can bear) for as long as you can bear, try to aim for 20mins but at least 15
    >leave sauna and wait to cool down, 40mins tops (quick cold showers/immersion is fine but don't stay too long)
    >repeat 3 times at least in succession
    >do this once a week, preferably on reat days
This has shown an increase of 10x+ release in your body's growth hormones, meaning you GET BIGGER more effectively if you do this.

Use this information wisely broskis, we're all gonna make it

Detox is a myth but sauna is good for other reasons (heat shock proteins, minor cardiac stressor, and vascular dilation).
