Wisdom teeth

Why the FRICK is the 99% treatment plan for impacted third molars just to rip them all out? It's truly bizarre

We live at a time where mail in clear aligners can upright molars and I'm expected to go to an oral surgeon, receive anesthesia, remove the teeth, and enter a recovery plan where I pray I dont get dry socket

Anti extraction is going to be the new anti circumcision

Mostly because sometimes they don't come out all the way even with the space and can cause infection.

You can't bend them upwards. You can't pull them into position. You can't do anything except remove or hope it sorts itself out. If there was a better way we would have come up with one by now. The best bet is to wait until you're in pain to remove them, but by then it could already damage your other teeth

It's because everyone in western society eats mushy food. If you go anywhere that hasn't been tainted by our ways everyone has their wisdom teeth. They do a lot more chewing which actually increases the space in the mouth and opens the sinuses. That and there's a kot of money in surgery.

They also keep the rest of your teeth in place

I don't think that's true. It's a myth that wisdoms cause crowding in the front, so how would they impact drifting?

I'm curious, why is your dentist planning on removing unerupted third molars? Do you have braces planned?

Image is from google. I'm 26 and all my third molars are erupted, just one being mesially impacted. I had braces in hs, even have a lower fixed retainer. My dentist says the location of the roots make him not want to extract in clinic, he referred to the oral surgeon.

Not that guy, but my dentist wants to pull mine out even though only one has fully erupted and one partially. He says they'll start impacting on my teeth and pushing them around, but all doctors are snake oil salesmen so I don't really trust him. I think I'll wait until it starts actually hurting, because I've already lost my foreskin and I don't want to give up any other body parts unless I absolutely have to.

Before I could get braces, all of mine had to be removed even though I didn’t have any problems with them.

there was no reason for you to have 6 molars beyond your wisdom teeth out unless you had shitty non-restorable teeth, so that's on you gay

how many thousands of years have we existed just fine without dentists? And now in the last 50 or so we're required to visit them twice a year. Hell, last time I was in there they told me everyone needs to go 4x a year now. It's all a scam. Why does toothpaste seem to leave a plaque-like film on everything it touches? What is it doing to your teeth? israeli influence

People did not exist just fine without dentists, moron. Before any kind of dentistry, if you broke a tooth or developed any kind of decay, your options were: rip out the tooth or die of infection. If you leave a tooth with pulpitis alone the infection will spread to your jaw bone, or your gums, or if you're really unlucky, the brain.

People who don't take care of their teeth are subhuman. They don't need to be perfectly white or straight but you do need to get rid of plaque and calculus buildup and treat cavities/decay.

      >Get a week off of work

      >Drink raw eggs to heal quicker

      Instead of
      >Let the teeth fester in your mouth, eroding the molars they're impacting and making flossing a pain in the ass
Wish I did it earlier but kept pussying out. The extra space is helping my teeth stay aligned since I lost my retainers to boot.

dental problems have existed since agricultural revolution and people were not 'just fine'.
Dentists arent scamming you as long as you are just going for annual/biannual cleaning and treating any periodontitis as soon as it forms.
even on a modern diet you shouldnt be getting cavities with good dental hygiene
