With the economic collapse on the horizon and the inflation, food shortages and scarcity conflicts is it even smart to cut for summer?

I honestly think its moronic to enter the coming hunger winter with a low bodyfat percentage. Perhaps even bulk up a little while you still can to keep yourself warm.

Lol my brother spent his entire high school and college life partying, drinking, etc and was making 6figures before he was even done with college. Networking from it all means the people who have the most fun also get the luckiest. It's a massive cope that there is some fairness and those who sacrifice one thing get something else in its stead.

I worked as a middle manager at a grocery store after college and the amount of 30 year olds, mid-30s too, doing that…across multiple stores…really makes me doubt that. Yeah if you’re in some super lucrative field but most people didn’t wind up doing that, and obviously can’t afford to redo their bachelors degree.

Smart move is to bulk or maintain now in anticipation for cutting when shit gets worse, like months down the line worse.

Not really. Fat takes calories to maintain. Plenty of normal food you can get off the shelf lasts 2+ years. The time to get fat would be if your stash is about to expire.
I can't see the famine lasting longer than 2 years anyway. Demand would adjust to fit supply by then if you know what I mean.

I don't have the same outlook but you can always learn to fish and hunt if you are worried about food

A hundred pound buck can provide a bit over 100 large servings of meat, then you got fish, turkey, duck, etc.

There are a lot of redneck people that live spending very little money or no money for long stretches at a time because they know how to survive and live off the land.

Why do you think it has to be some sort of sudden apocalyptic event? This isn't a movie. Prices are obviously gonna increase steadily. Shit I paid 79 cents for last year costs $1.39 now. If it keeps going at this rate then it's gonna get really high.

Cutting before hyperinflation means you can buy more supplies now while they're still affordable because you're spending less on day-to-day needs. Squirrel calories away in your home, not your gut.

There is a shortage of diesel oil and DEF looming while companies are struggling to get parts for their rigs. FedEx started using rental trucks for deliveries due to the shortages. DEF is only produced by two companies, one being Chevron, and both expect production to resume in Q1 23'. Everyone should keep an eye on the situation at minimum and manage the risk this fall.

stock up on food and supplies you might need worth 3 months. learn skills like gardening, cooking etc. learn to live on the lowest amount of money.
you can't offset the economic contraction we will experience (at least in europe) but you can make your life easier and the change smoother.

Was just talking about this with my parents the other day, we live in the UK and notice some products missing on shelves, more so than there used to be. I guess it can recover but I'm thinking realistically it's more likely to get worse before/if it gets better and it's better to prepare as much as you can. I guess we can only be thankful we aren't in a full blown world war and having to grow your own shit and ration, that is if you weren't getting your limbs blown off on the front.
