Eating meat. However we will probably get to the point where one has to let go of every other luxury in life to be able to afford meat. But then again, nothing is more valuable than your health.

It's such of load of shit, no fricking cow farts don't cause global warming you fricking moron methane doesn't stay in the atmosphere as long as CO2 does, and it's cyclical, Cow eats grass -> poos and farts -> leads to more grass. Most of the net pollution that comes from animal agriculture is also from the third world, not highly optimized farms in the US or Australia that yield shit tons of meat every year.

the heads of these type of people that seethe about emissions usually explode if you tell them that without a single emission the planet would continue going to shit.

ecology is my hobby, I forward a lot of information to people that make a living from it, literally none of us think that it's the temperature that's fricking shit up, there's been severe swings in temperature within the recent evolutionary history of literally just about any animal that currently exists.

when we say 'climate change' we don't mean the overarching temperature creep, we mean that we're logging forests which exposes the soil to sunlight and causes it to erode, we're plowing grassland ecosystems because they're easily turned into agriculture, and we're draining swamps for it too, the only nature we actively conserve is rocks and ice.

The problem with farm pollution is from plowing and leaving the land/micro-organisms exposed to sunlight for months and months out of the year. We're killing the soil, which in turn produces nutritionless food. Same problem with pavement, it doesn't absorb anything like soil and plants do so we just bake. We're taking away our insulation and replacing it with fricking heating coils, murdering our sacred place where we bury death and grow life and replacing it with packaged, processed goods and increasingly nutrient starved, artifically enriched flesh. We're putting on the clown make up as we speak, and the sweaty drops are making the paint streak. We gotta fix the way we farm/relate to the land, full stop. We gotta fix the way we raise animals and give them proper access to grazing grounds and nutritious foods, or pretty soon you'll be eating six steaks and still feeling hungry, cuz all that heavy flesh just ain't fricking worth anything.

look at the sources for this video:

Raising lifestock doesn't produce any "new" CO2. The methane that gets released by cows farting gets converted into CO2 within a few days. It's the exact same amount of CO2 that was earlier absorbed by the plants that the cows ate, so there's zero new CO2 being added to that circle.
The same applies to the water "wasted" by raising lifestock - the vast majority of water that's used for raising lifestock is "green" water, meaning just rainwater that isn't drinkable directly anyway. Dirty water gets drunk by cows -> cows piss out the water -> you now have the exact same amount of dirty water that you started out with.

This is all a huge scam by the fossile fuel lobby because they want to blame climate change on something else.

            >all of them are habitat loss.

'global warming' only pushes species that were already on the verge of collapse over the edge, but not a single extinction would be prevented without it because that's not how these species ended up being threatened.

it's not specifically plant agriculture that's causing the declines, it's all agriculture.

the human population has been artificially inflated with petrochemical fertilizers to over twice the amount of people that the environment can naturally sustain with it's own nitrogen production, most agriculture would not be possible without this, and it'll stop being possible when it runs out within the next decade and we have no alternatives for it.

CO2 and ocean acidification is more dangerous than the higher temperatures.
Either way it has to deal with humans pumping out too much CO2 for the planet's resources to deal with. Whether the planet's resources to deal with CO2 are dwindling or the CO2 itself is increasing is just arguing semantics because both are caused by man and both fall under the umbrella term "global warming"

ocean acidification hasn't caused any extinctions yet, we just know it can.

most species that are currently in decline, or have gone extinct, went extinct purely due to habitat loss from agriculture.

most 'climate change' has nothing to do with emissions, it's the result of humans altering an environment, changing the biological make up of a habitat alters it's weather.

because without all of our infrastructure populations naturally recede and expand when the weather changes, plants that can't stand the heat recede to mountainous environments for example, there's still relict species from when the planet was much cooler around as a result, picture related, relict from the tertiary period that was once widespread.

when we started using massive amounts of lands and building roads everywhere species stopped being able to do this, they can't cross habitat, it needs to be unfragmented for them to do this.

            Anonymous

Yes, but the CO2 that's released from that methane isn't from a fossile carbon source and thus doesn't get added to the total.
Plant grows while sucking CO2 out of the air -> Cow eats plant -> Cow farts -> methane gets into the atmosphere and gets converted into CO2 again -> exact same amount of CO2 gets released back into the air -> repeat.

It's a zero sum game, there's zero CO2 that gets added to the atmosphere via cow farts, it just circulates.

        Anonymous

everything that processes plant matter releases methane, this isn't unique to cows, most of the global methane production is from swamps, it's not the reason the climate it going to shit, that's due to habitat loss, almost no species have issues withstanding temperature shifts if they're able to expand and recede into suitable micro-habits but they can't because they've all been fragmented with infrastructure or turned into farmland.

grassland is also a major sequester of carbon.

without greenhouse emissions, you still wouldn't save the planet because it's not the reason why ecosystems are collapsing, that's pretty much entirely due to human expansion, fertilizer pollution, and any and all forms of industrial agriculture.

Cows eat mostly grass until the end of their lives where they are fed all the onions byproducts to fatten them up for slaughter. Maybe in America they are fed a diet of microplastics and iPhones but in Europe the former is the case.

this is correct, cattle largely eats forage from areas unfit for traditional agriculture, very little land is 'wasted' on them that could be used for anything else.

They get all kinds of shit even candy in the US but grass doesn’t seem to be a major part of their diet. Even knew a rancher and he said to qualify as grass fed all they had to do was have them graze a little before getting slaughtered or some shit like that. He fed his cows the byproducts from local brewers which he said was really easy on the cows stomachs for some reason

The funniest thing about cruises is they are cheaper than rent now. It's like 700 for a week plus food, water, gym, internet. I have half a mind to just live on cruises for a year while remote working with a laptop just to do it. They make all their money on booze. If you just don't drink you can basically just live on them more/as affordably as an apartment+food with the same amenities.

There is exactly one thing that currently causes CO2 in the atmosphere to rise and it's taking carbon from underground where it's been permanently sequestered and lighting it on fire.

It'll be a cassandra truth. Something that, even if the knowledge and data is publicly out there, none of the powers that be will talk about it or admit to it, and they'll just keep toeing the line they have for decades. No different than how, over half a century later, we're still being told that dietary fat/cholesterol are bad and that we should be consuming more processed goyfeed instead. Because it's simply in the corporate interest to get more people to consume cheap inexpensive nonperishable goyslop over consuming real food.

look at the quantity of their fred that is grains and other crops, the vast majority of the feed in conventional beef production is forage
not to mention what they feef livestock isn't what is sold to humans but the leftovers of crops grown for humans that animals like cows can eat and digest without blowing their guts up.
when you buy wheat flour or bread you're eating a tiny portion of actual wheat, you're eating a portion of the wheat grain which is in itself a tiny fraction of the whole plant, what do you think they do with the leftovers? they feed it all to animals as to avoid waste, not human grade wheat/soi flour lmfao.

the agricultural sector in first world countries is as efficient as it can get without causing severe food shortages and rampant nutritional deficiencies in their populations.

if their logic is that meat is bad because the herbivores we eat produce methane farts from digesting plant matter, then couldn't you use the exact same logic to arghue that we should exterminate all ruminants, including cows, horses, deer, moose, goats, sheep, and buffaloes? Since their mere existence is damaging the environment, after all.

lithium batteries arent a long term solution, its a bridge like anything else. ride the lithium mine development train while it lasts. perfect environment for it. still a huge amount of road blocks. Politicians are moronic and want local supply but wont remove red tape to build mines, and the tax credits incentivize locally manufactured batteries, but the infrastructure doesnt exist and tax credits arent investments - especially for companies that are already running at a loss(mine developers, etc)

i dunno bros seems like a lot of things would be sustainable if we just had 1/4 the current population and made an attempt to keep it that way. i dunno how both commies and israelservatives value human life so muhc considering population increase has been exponential since the industrial revolution. you're encouraged to pop out kids so they can be cheap labour and consumers. human life is cheap

no amount of plant based meat will address the reality that agriculture in general is horrible and fertilizer destroys fresh water ways

It varies wildly by insect. The best are about as good as ꜱoy, most are a fair bit worse than that, and some are worse than gluten.

Was being sarcastic homie. Most marine life will be gibbed by carbon cycle in oceans. People like you really don’t understand that earth’s ecosystems have a pretty delicate balance and historically climate change is pretty slow, which gives organisms time to evolve (think 1.2 degrees over millions of years).

          Anonymous

You can't seriously be crying over polar bears! Or penguins. Frick them. Literally every other animal will prefer a warmer climate. And adaptability of populations of animals happens way faster than you think. And besides, a "warmer climate" doesn't mean some inhospitably hot bullshit like the propaganda you've been exposed to. I mostly just means the disappearance of winter and the homogonization of climates. Again, check out the Eocene period.

I hope climate change is real. I hope the air grows thin and the seas rise and boil, that the sun makes the outside uninhabitable.
I hope it's all real and I hope it all happens soon so I can watch these rich wannabe puppetmaster wienersuckers burn and boil with the rest of us. All these c**ts buying up farmland, trying to put the working man in pods and feed us bugs while they jet around in private planes eating filet. I hope the whole fricking world dies just so I can watch those fricks go down with the ship, so I can watch them realize that their big dreams of being HNIC of spaceship earth go up in a miasma of carbon and smoke and cancer. So I can watch them realize how little their precious money truly matters when they're about to succumb and face eternal judgment for the sin of their grand designs.

Don't hold your breath. We have been on the brink of climate devestation according to "science" idealogue inc. since the 70's. We were supposed to be underwater by 2010, frozen to death in a great ice age by the mid 80's, boiling in tumours from no ozone layer in the 90's. Acid rain was going to end life as we know it in the 80's. All the while punishing the cleanest countries in to less and less freedoms while ignoring completely the most pollutant places. To truly believe it has anything to do with some cumbersome idea of the "climate" is to willfully be fearful to the point of being the antithesis of the human spirit. There is no other reason. People posting silly pie charts and linking to idealogue "science" blogs will never change that and their irrelevance is not up for argument.

Blaming the climate on meat is absolutely ridiculous, when energy production and transport is 80% of the pollution.

Its just a way for corporations to blame the people, isntead of themselves
