Question of the thread: Would the most skilled fighter in the world beat an untrained silverback gorilla in hand to hand combat?

      >fighters don't lift

if we get into super heavy weights yes, we evolved alongside those cunts and we ended up owning the fucking planet, there's no doubt we killed hand to hand more of them than they did us

Yeah so talked to someone about this cause I have a background in lifting weights and recently picked up a fighting sport. Strength does somewhat translate into being able to hit harder, but good technique is really important for hitting well.

One sidenote though, cause that person trained kickboxing both a long time ago at 60kg and recently at >100kg(?), if you wanna hit hard you need to carry a bit of mass. They were able to strike quick when lightweight but had not a lot of power, these days they can absolutely murk people at current body weight.

In a street fight (assuming nobody is carrying) the guy who's strongest and heaviest has the best odds.

This all goes out of the window if you're fighting someone with combat experience. The average boxer would slap the shit out of 95% of general public.

Kind of a poor question. It's really about how efficiently you can make use of that force, i.e., technique. You'd hit severe diminishing returns from lifting if your punching technique was garbage and you only translated a tiny fraction of that strength into punching power. I'd be pretty confident in saying somebody who has great punching technique would have a stronger punch than a 1/2/3/4 guy who's totally untrained.

Then there's the actual sparring experience, footwork, etc.

Fair point, so rephrase it this way: between 2 guys with the same skill level and barring luck, the stronger guy always wins, correct or incorrect?

if the skill level is null, yes. if not, obviously not and anyone teling you otherwise eas raised by his grandma and is a gay to this day, and a dyel.

Would you say that a strong individual who is untrained in any sort of martial art should would have better odds grappling or wrestling in a street fight then?

not that anon but doesnt matter if you do wrestling or grappling on a street fight, because then you are going to die anyway. rolling on the floor is not fighting.

How much does weight vs strength matter?
I am dyel, with an ok chest. I am also close to 1/2/3/4. I weigh 81 kg. I guess I would get killed by more than 50% of men in a street fight, but maybe I'm underestimating myself.

It will make you stronger, you could say you'd be a better fighter but if a smaller guy knows how to punch and dodge you're fucked

This, strength is never a weakness and being stronger will make you a better fighter, but you also have to train fighting if you actually want to be good

the trick is to hit first, but not strike first

Always close distance, grab their neck, and fall, trying to smash their skull on the pavement. Best fighting technique. Exchanging blows is gay.

Yes, insofar as it will make your normal shitty punches hit harder. Just how you can lift with shitty technique and still make strength gains before your shit starts to snap.
In any case, this is a pointless question. While learning a whole ass martial art to a degree of proficiency can take years, learning the basics of throwing punches takes much less time. Ain't no excuse not to learn that.
