After 1 year lifting I have the same amount of muscle as Brad Pitt on that pic, but way more fat. I was thinking of cutting and trying to look like him, but I also thought of bulking even more and getting bear mode.

that motherfricker only weighted 160 lbs, what makes you think that isn't doable in just a year?

Yeah and he was 9-10%. I bet if you gays who have been lifting for 1 year cut to 10% you'd weigh 140lbs.

Im essentially the same height as brad pitt and this was my experience. When I first started cutting/dropping weight I thought I was going to be nearing single digit BF% at 170 which was completely delusional. im 165 currently and still have a good 5-10 lbs to reach that leanness.

So why is that? are you losing muscle as you cut?

            Anonymous

I'm natty so I've defenitaly dropped some muscle mass as I've cut, I'd say the majority has been from my lower body/quads. I'd say more so than dropping muscle mass, the difference has come from me vastly underestimating what my bodyfat percentage was at pre cut. I've never been this lean before so it's certainly a learning experience.

It's because he doesn't have as much muscle as he thinks he does.

So? It's always better to have low body fat even if you don't have that much muscle. It looks better and when you start gaining muscle it'll be way more visible

                Anonymous

Yes, exactly. I had a skewed perspective of lean body mass at my height. I thought a lean 5'11 person in the 150s would be a skeleton, that's simply not the case.

I think losing that muscle is really worth it. Being low body fat will make you look way more muscular even if you actually have less muscle. Also once you end your cut cycle you can regain the lost muscle and look even better

I agree with this 100%, I'm in that zone where I actually look bigger as I continue to drop weight. I want to test my limits and for me, it's well worth it.

better for what exactly? if you get absolutely no pussy or attention for that matter you should get lean and grow out hair if you do get pussy you bulk and see how fat you get before you dont(for me thats around 15%)shit sucks but only you know what you can get away with and hey its quite possible if you do get plenty of poon at 20% youd get an exorbitant amount at 15% although thats a sacrifice youd have to deem worth it

big with high bodyfat, just lose weight and you look fricking great

      Anonymous

I wish it was that easy. If you bulk for many consecutive years you will gain a lot of muscle, but also a lot of fat that won't simply go away by lowering your calories a bit. If you really want to lose weight when you are as big as that guy, you will have to compromise a lot of muscle

You only need to gain 20lbs per bulking season. Stay within 10-15% bodyfat. Do that for 6 years and you'll ve surprised how good you'll look.

I am a perfectionist though, hence I don't want to get too fat
But I prefer playing the long game, lean bulk until early 2024, then cut
Right Now I don't have enough mass to cut imo

Bodyweight chinups and lat pulldown machine are probably the main contributers. I do chest supported t-bar rows too. Mainly I think it was just being a volumegay with the pulldown motions. For a long time I was doing like 3 sets of bodyweight chinups and then 5 or 6 backoff sets with the lat pulldown machine.

Recently I've started doing neutral grip assisted pullups instead of the lat pulldown though, I feel like they give a better stretch

People act like it's a trade off and being 20% bodyfat automatically means you're big and muscular, and being lean means you're a twink

In reality, being 20% bodyfat most likely just means you're skinnyfat and don't look like you lift

true. I lifted for 3 years without caring about my diet, and I still didn't look like I lifted eventhough I had put a lot of muscle. Once I finally decided to cut, I finally stopped looking DYEL
