No reason to spend that much. Even if you buy into specialized machines you would get no where that close unless you're a moron like juji who may as well be clueless without the aide of tom. I tried telling him how to set the gym up properly to not require that much money but he was so obsessed on pretending to be a commercial gym for one.

Why 500k? Unless I wanted multiple people to workout at the same time on it I wouldn't spend that much

      >$500k for a home gym
listen lead is half the density of gold, but x0.00038 the price. Building a solid gold gym doesn’t make sense unless you have really stringent space concerns.

I can make a good gym for $2.5k, a top tier gym for $15k, and dream gym for $30k-$40k. $500k is insane and unnecessary to such an insane level. For that money I could make a personal sports complex not a fricking gym

He obviously built the gym as a business write-off of some sort. He's going to be able to write off depreciation and business expenses for years. He got the 500k gym for free to make content.

this makes sense, when you have a business where your only expenditure is a phone camera and a laptop the government will try to still trillions in taxes, might as well use it to build a moronic gym instead of gifting it to the government

Compare Eric at 275 to any roidtroony at 275.
Seems pretty weird that Eric has a totally different physique from the roid trannies.
People who think Eric can't be natty are losers who spend their entire teens on their computers, and don't understand how big someone can get natty if they have been active during their teens with sufficient nutrition.
I have buddies who are really jacked for being natty, because they've done sports and lifting since they were 13 and are now 30 lol.
Of course someone who was sedate up with a shit diet will think getting jacked natty is impossible.

              Anonymous

He would lose a lot of muscle mass if he cut to a low bodyfat percentage.
Your body doesn't want to carry a lot of muscle and be low fat at the same time.
Look at Nick's strenght and power cut for his contest, that's what happens if you cut to get shredded as a natty.
People on here keep posting pictures of Eric where he looks juicy, but that's just because they don't understand how much of a difference a pump + good lighting does.

considering that he is 6'1 he would have to get to the 190s to 180s. Idk why he fell so hard for the bloat meme. It's ok if he just cares about numbers and wants to maximize his lifts as much as possible. But all the coping about how better it is to be a fat powerlifter and how unhealthy and bad he felt during cuts is stupid. He looked way better and was probably 10 times healthier when he did that once cut three years ago. Now his face has aged like 10 years in one and is probably border-line diabetic

Hell no, there's no reason to spend more than like a few thousand on a home gym, 1K gets you a barbell and adjustable dumbbell set with all the weight you'll ever need, another 1K gets you a power rack, adjustable bench, horse stall mats for deadlift/oly, fans for the summer and a couple other misc things like belt, straps, wraps etc.

  10. 2 years ago

Nah, I'd end up spending 10k tops. My home gym right now is only about 3k.
If I REALLY wanted to blow extra cash, I'd get a pool for cardio, and a hottub/sauna for recovery/enjoyment. I could blow it on dumb iso machines, but that's just wasted space in my opinion.

He's actually completely moronic for spending so much. The structure actually makes sense, fully finished pole-barns are extremely expensive, but even then that seems high.

The 250k on "fancy" new equipment is the dumb part. I started collecting pieces on marketplace/CL at the beginning of Covid and in the 2ish years have pretty much a parallel or rarer/better version of what he has. For all of maybe 15k-20k.

Now he has this heartless commercial looking gym with noone in it instead of creating the little mecca he probably thought he would.

His apartment and garage gym were better for making interesting videos. Even the old videos in that commercial gym in Alabama with his buds were better. All the new videos just feel like every other bodybuilder trying to make a YT channel filming in whatever gym they go to, and it doesn't help that he doesn't have as competent an editor anymore (not even tomposting).
If he gets a decent editor (or the current one gits gud) and he goes traveling and making videos like he used to do, or gets anybody other than the same four guests he's had for the last few years, I think his channel could come back.

That's enough money to equip multiple commercial grade gyms. I live in a small EU country and I doubt they spend more than 50-100k per gym.
I don't get for what you'd spent that much, maybe if you wanted those high tech german pulley machines with electro-magnetic resistance.. Then this might even not be high enough budget.
But it's kinda pointless going that rout, it's multiple times cheaper to just use elastic bands to get better resistance curve.

I'm not a youtube fitness icon and I wouldn't get the write-off. OP's question was "would you spend $500k on a home gym if you had the money", not "would you take advantage of literally any tax write-off you could if it meant you bought a thing instead of paid taxes". I would take the write-off and buy $500k of rotten eggs if I could, FRICK the government. But my absolute dream gym of stuff I'd actually use would never cost more than $50k.

He built a kitchenette and laundry room but sleeps on the floor next to the cardio, showers outside and his desk is literally just randomly set in the open. That extra money he could have saved on equipment would've gone a long way for more space and rooms, resulting in more collabs which he probably hoped.

No. In the scenario where I didn't already have a home gym (I do), I'd spend $500-$1000, then invest the rest. After at most 15 years that $499k would be about $1M and I could then retire and live modestly off of the 3% interest a year. At that point I'd be free to just work out all day.

Not because it’s better (it probably still is better than the cataclysmically filthy shitholes you gather in) but because of the connections we make here.
