Years of b12 deficiency

My doctor wouldn't check my vitamin levels because oh my issues are all mental I just need this psychiatric med that med and this med, that'll keep me from feeling like I'm dying *all* the time right? Fricking hate our medical education system. It's insane how many people have this issue and it's overlooked like it's bumfrick nothing, drugs are always the answer. Pisses me off to no end.

After 5 years or so of pure suffering I found out: Iron/ferritin deficiency, doubled my levels and still not feeling well over the last 3 months.
D3 deficiency, was at like 32 now I'm around 56 with supplements, been about 3 months.
A biggy, b12, only was at 272 before I started supplementing, months ago.

My dick is almost completely dead, fatigue is literally non stop, motivation is low, happiness is low even though I'm in a better position now in life than I ever have been. Filled with such apathy I don't know what drives me to improve at this point. Maybe it's not wanting to let down my fiancee. I dunno anymore.

Bitching and moaning aside, have any of you guys dealt with this bullshit before? Does b12 affect libido as heavily as I'm hoping? Really would like to have a working dick again. My testosterone levels are very good, actually. I stretch and exercise fairly regularly. Hearts in decent health. The only thing I can think of is the ferritin/b12 deficiency causing the lack of sensitivity/sex drive. I mean how can you get turned on when you just wanna sleep half the day anyway right?

I literally knew nothing about these things as a teenager. I'm 25 now. At 20 I just knew some supplements should be taken daily, the RDA of course. Which isn't enough in case of vitamin D. Didn't know stomach issues affect absorption so heavily. Didn't know half the population has a gene mutation (MTHFR, which I have.) Didn't know the fortified gluten products had vitamins that were essentially poison to me. Shit, my doctor straight up told me that because I only have one copy of the gene cyanocobalamin and artificial folate should still be okay for me. The doctors have failed me. And my insurance won't cover a naturopath. I was just a kid.

Being at the bottom end of the b12 range is actually pretty common. Other countries have a higher minimum range though, which is why biohackers often supplement it. I supplement 2x week, which seems to be a good dosage to get there.

B12 vitamins are pretty safe if your doctor doesn't want to keep checking it. I've never noticed a change in energy levels though, even during periods when I went off and the levels dropped back down again.

Don't rule out the mental health angle dude.

I highly doubt my issues are mental. For years I've believed they were but I'm just not seeing it anymore. I don't get anxious over anything in particular but sometimes I'll get anxiety attacks for no reason. Can be playing vidya or reading and bam, I feel sick and breathless, very on edge. I don't get anxiety at times I should, I never really did before all these health issues started. Cognitive behavioral therapy has helped me deal with the symptoms a tiny bit but ever since I started correcting my vitamin shit, even though I still feel sick and dead all the time, ice been able to take less benzos. After 4 or 5 years of being on .5mgs of klonopin a day I've finally been able to start weaning off. I'm on wellbutrin as well and tried quitting but it gave me terrible vertigo. Or at least, I think that's what caused the vertigo. I dunno.

        >I'm on wellbutrin
Well there's your libido problems... Stop SSRIs immediately. Get a Viagra prescription. If you're jerking off, stop. You need to be having sex at least once a day if possible (being "tired" is not an excuse, if you're sleeping in the same bed bang no matter what) to keep a relationship strong.

It's not an SSRI actually. One of the reasons I didn't entirely oppose going on it. Some people actually report increased sex drive on it. I didn't start using the med until about 2 or 3 years ago, after all this started. Klonopin though it has been 4 or 5 years. That I want to get rid of first.

I missed that you were on Klonopin too... If your issues aren't mental then why are you on an anti anxiety and an anti depressant and why can't you stop taking them?

My issues all started with what seemed to be panic attacks (paired with very bad GI symptoms.) I was at work one day felt perfectly fine than all of a sudden I couldn't breathe. My body got all numb and tingly and I thought I was fricking dying. That happened at least a handful of times for no apparent reason. Saw my doctor, he said oh sounds mental here's some clonazapam. Here's a referral for a psychiatrist and a therapist. The klonopin actually did help keep me in check, most days. Still didn't stop the panic attacks or bouts of nausea and bloating but they were less severe and shorter lived. For a year I went on just trying to get through like that. Fun fact, when i burped i got a TON of relief. Like i could go from oh my god its happening again, then i burp a few times, almost instant relief. I then quit gluten, because I thought it might help my stomach. It did. But I don't have celiac and never had issues with it before. So my doctors were like lol okay if it helps it helps.
Anyways, cutting that story in more than half, I've been on klonopin for years because it did help me with the bouts of anxiety. I've just became dependent on it. Funny thing though, I've never gone over .5mgs except for maybe a 4 5 month period where things were particularly bad. Even then, not once did i take more than maybe 1.5mgs in a single day all these years. I'm very lucky in the sense that I'm not on a terribly high dosage.

I have, they help a little, temporarily. Recently in the last few months I've been taking probiotics, prebiotics with every meal, I've been taking apple cider vinegar on and off, and I do feel very slightly better. I think my issue is actually not enough stomach acid honestly.

How long did it take for your b12 to recover? Or are you still replenishing it?
I supplement 2000 mcg sublingually and try to eat food with nutritional yeast mixed in it

Where do you go to get your blood test? I’ve had low energy but it might be due to low calories or just b12 deficiency

Still supplementing. I'm aiming to get it around 900 or well, whenever symptoms alleviate. Seeing a stomach doctor next week to see why I'm not absorbing it from food, I eat a lot of meat so there's no reason it ever should've been low.
I basically just bug the shit out of my doctor until he puts the order through for me to have it done at a Quest lab near me. He's surprisingly been pretty compliant. When I challenge what he says or ask a question he'll admit he doesn't know too much about vitamin deficiencies. He's letting me take care of my own health and kinda helping me along the way. He's a good doc honestly and he does care for his patients but he just didn't learn all he needed in med school. I think there's only what one chapter maybe a week or two dedicated to nutrition?

    Get off all pharmaceutical drug
Do a parasite cleanse (at least 3 monrths, I recommend a tincture called Zahler Paraugard + mimosa seed)
    Get any amalgam fillings removed
Do multiple liver cleanses to rid your liver of your gallstones
Transition to a clean natual unprocessed diet free of artificial ingredients

      >liver cleanses
What's the best thing to use for this? I'm already taking 600mgs of NAC one-two times a day. Been doing that for months, now. I've considered I may have stomach parasites before but I haven't done much research. I know it's much more common than people would think but that's about it.

what your free testosterone look like? Total T doesn't give the full picture, it's arguable a worse measure for libido

It hovers between 275/320ish (pg/ml, I think.) Total is always around 1100-1300. Drives me up the wall when people talk about MUH TOTAL T BRUH, my SHBG used to be so high it didn't matter how high I got natty. Started TRT to lower my shbg a year ish ago.

But your dick is still dead? I have low free T but normal total T (around 700) and I have no libido and ED. Did your doctor prescribe you TRT? I've been to 2 endocrinologists and they don't give a shit about my libido or ED, i have abnormally high cortisol, ACTH and prolactin so i have to do some tests but I'm not hopeful, so far doctors have only proved their incompetency to me.

I mean I get morning wood but the EQ is kinda meh, not much sensitivity either compared to before all these issues. It could be 100% b12 and iron related, plenty of peoples libidos just go kaput when they're deficient.

Are you overweight or under alot of stress? Idk what causes high prolactin aside from being fat. As for cortisol, I never had to deal with having high levels.

As for how I got trt; found a private clinic online, out of pocket. Been with them a year now ish. I recently convinced my urologist to give me TRT though, since I'm on it anyways and since the other clinic deemed it necessary. Few men are so lucky though. Urologists and even endocrinologists are fricking idiots. I tried seeing an endo last year and he straight up told me I am going to die my test was so high (only 935ish at that time lmao.) I told him "oh, what do you see that indicates that, doc? My hematocrit is just fine and my other bloods are borderline perfect." Literally all he kept repeating is that my total is too high and that's why I'll die or have heart issues. Fricking stupid pajeet couldn't elaborate on anything. Then he asked why I'm on TRT and I told him about my high SHBG. Guy looked me in the eyes and told me he "doesn't go by" or even test SHBG or free T. I just walked out at that point. How he keeps his license is beyond me. Left him a long and very angry review.

I'm ottermode, always have been skinny, never above 22 bmi. I'm not under lot of stress in my everyday life so I'm kinda puzzled of why I have high stresses hormones (cortisol, ACTH and prolactin are all stress hormones). Never had morning wood of my life. It might be an issues with my neurotransmitters but my endo didn't want to test for them lmao, I'm going to do a battery of test at the hospital now, hopefully they find what's up. My experience with uros, endos and docs in general has been similar to yours, they are unempathetic and incompetent, most them didn't read a paper in 20 years i bet, bunch of fricking idiots.

Lots of potential reasons, parasites, low stomach acid, I think there's some diseases that frick up vitamin absorption, surgical procedures, few others I don't know of. I did get an appendictomy around age 10 but I doubt that did it. Parasites are actually fairly common. I suppose it's also possible that taking the synthetic folate and shit they put in alot of grain products raped my stomach because MTHFR.

With B12, unless you have a family history of depression, neuropathies, RA, or chronic fatigue, it's usually not worth checking because most people just metabolize and retain it pretty well.

Also, of you think that B12 is the issue you're gonna need to megadose. People with clinical B12 deficiency get prescribed injections every 6 month that give them a huge dose of that shit.

So you're supplementing vitamins, are in the normal range, and still feel like shit?

Sounds like a mental problem, have you considered psychiatric medications?

I am feeling a bit better. Being "within range," is not an indicator of good health. Optimal B12 if I remember right is about 900. Japan's lower end is like 800. I'm only around 400 now. I need to take more a dose it seems.

were you some kind of vegan shut-in? sunlight and liver senpai

I ride a motorcycle basically every day I can and I supplement with D now. So my D is actually probably okay now. Also, I frickin love liver. Had some yesterday in fact.
