Don’t wanna sound mean but most lonely people are alone for a reason. I wish I could help them, but I can’t. Even the biggest autists I’ve met have friends. When I sat alone sometimes during lunch (different lunch periods) people kept coming up to me and talking. It’s SO SO hard to be lonely. And you know exactly why they’re lonely too, it’s like I speak to some of these people for w/e reason and they instantly give off a vibe. It just makes you think “I need to get the frick out of here, I can’t deal with this”. Again, nothing against lonely people who are a victim of circumstance, but most people are def lonely for a reason.

I would somewhat agree with you
I’ve met this really fat man who was a complete and utter butthole
He quits to become the manager of some burger joint.
His wife started working at the same place a year later
She revealed to me that he has 0 friends
In fact she is the sole person he talks to apart from his kids, one his and one hers.
She actually lost friends because of how much of dick he was to her friends they refuse to speak with her.
There was a very good reason he didn’t have any friends
Him and my ex are great examples of two lonely people who are lonely for being god awful people no one want to associate with
My even got us kicked out of a bar for being such a b***h to the bar tender
Again zero friends or even contact with family
Even me a autist who thought he was alone for most his life
Realized that every single place i went to
There was always at least 1 one person who i could shoot the shit with during work or school.
Never in my life have i had a problem striking up a friendly conversation with a person and somehow people can sense this despite me being a autist.

Nah, its different for men. For most its just an issue of never leaving the house and a lack of social settings to participate in after school ends.

I had tons of friends all through school and college. Once I got into the real world, everyone got busy and I slowly became alone. I am friendly with coworkers, but I dont have a best friend that I hang out with and talk to everyday like I used to. I live in the middle of nowhere, so there aren't many options for meeting new people. Once my gf left me, I was completely alone.
Eventually you either just accept it, like 60% of adult men do, or you force yourself to friend date dudes until you find a bro.

I'll somewhat disagree. I'm in my 30s, and it's no secret that the modern world is curated such that people (especially men) lose friends and become lonely as adults. It's just the way our world works.
However, its the exact same for getting fat. No matter your income level, gender, background, etc, in the west, post college people gain a lot of weight.
But only in the west. This trend does not exist elsewhere.
The same can be said of the loneliness aspect.
The truth is, if you don't put in the effort and energy to cultivate friends, you will slip into loneliness, just like if you don't put in the effort to workout, you will slip into being a fatty.
They are identical processes, in my mind. They both affect the mind/motivation negatively in feedback loops.
In reality, you have to push to find friends. I was alone for a few years in my late 20s, literally not a single person I talked to outside of work. It was horrible, I got depressed and drank every day.
I finally decided it was either this for the rest of my life or spend the rest of my life trying to hand with people and see what happens. I got clean, worked out more, and started purposefully talking to people more and more. A coworker became a good friend of mine, but it took me asking to hang out and go see a recent horror movie since we both talked horror a lot. And then me continuously doing so.
Girl who lived in an apartment down the street was amicable; never thought we would get together, just wanted to be friendly. Now we are pretty decent friends.
I started hanging out with her circle of friends. Started having parties randomly, just like chill for a few hours with drinks and food.
I don't wanna explain the whole process but I eventually found a couple of really good core friends and we are constantly planning weekend things (shows, new restaurants, events, hiking, etc). I ride motorcycles and forced myself to join local groups. I found the few close to my age and we ride.

Lastly, through friends of friends I connected with a cute girl. Not someone I would have ever ran into in my loneliness. We started dating, and now she is my life partner. I refuse dating apps, so this was the only way it would have happened: chance, but I had to increase my chances until it happened by connecting with more and more people.
I'm super well-adjusted in life now. The mental scars are still there, but I'm in such a better place now, and I really do enjoy my life more now than I did before. But I had to push back against the modern society which isolates people, and really put in the effort.

That's not the entire picture. E.g. if you run alone vs. with a running buddy, you'll likely run more with the buddy than you would've alone.
