calves respond well to high-repetition low intensity work like running and biking. People whining about bad calves should learn forefoot running and run 20 miles a week, unironically. I am lucky to have naturally ripped calves

      exactly

You've been using your calves since they day you started walking, do you really think hitting them once for 3x12 every week is enough intensity and volume for them to grow?

do you even actually train your calves
i find more often than not, people don't try to push progression or overload with their calves. just bounce up and down, like a prostitute, on a machine using the spring reflex of the achilles to do 30% of the work anyway

It’s always the people who don’t train legs or calf’s who cry about having skinny legs/calf’s. Train your calfs like you train chest or biceps, do that for a few months, then come tell us you aren’t seeing gains

      >don't train legs
      I squat over 500 x 5 and diddy nearly 600 x 5 and don't have any calves

There's no direct targeting so no wonder. Try standing calf raises (20+ reps) and uphill sprints

I love when people suggest calf raises like everyone hasn't already tried that.

You know what you don't do? 500lb Calf Raises for sets of 20.

Sometimes it doesn't matter man. But honestly calves aren't that important thankfully.

He's 6'7 tho. And his training revolves entirely around cardio. Young Mike Tyson was a cardio central athlete as well and look at his calfs and shoulders and arms

yeah but what do you think happens to Fury's calves if you take them off him and apply to them to a normal sized person? They would shrink in length and bulge like crazy and look big. His calves are actually big they are just long

That's not how it works because you don't use the same logic for other parts of the body. It either looks muscular or it doesn't. And the thing about cardio isn't correct at all. Boxers are explosive types not marathon running types. Everything they train for is for explosive movement. Look at pac's insane calf's, they obviously both work hard on their leg power with sprints and plyometrics but pac's calf's respond well while Wilders doesnt. It's just how it is.

he actually got them because of his previous job, he used to carry water on his back and would run up and down the hills all day, ot make a living, this is why i started training my calves by wearing a backpack and walking up hills

You joking? Tyson Fury is notorious for hitting the gym, he says it helps his depression.
