You can't convince me I need to eat 200g of protein a day to gain muscle.
Doesn't make sense at all that anybody would need to eat more than a couple chicken breasts a day to gain muscle.
I mean, frick, muscle is gained very slowly, and the amount of protein your body needs to maintain itself can't be more 1 chicken breast a day.

2g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight sounds like total broscience anyways.
It's way too convenient that nature worked our daily bodily macros as whole metric numbers instead of something like 1.2123123478935g protein per 0.843828924 kg of lean mass squared (after subtracting bones and organs) / height in cm * 1.35235263.

It’s 0.8-1g per lb of LEAN bodymass.

That still means I need to eat almost half a kg of chicken breast a day
I highly doubt our ancestors had access to this much protein on a daily basis
That's a lot of fricking chicken

you can still grow with less

your ancestors had a liftetime of physical activity starting at childhood, and vegetables and the animals they consumed were more nutritious, and their hormones were unaffected by microplastics, etc.

Your ancestors weren't as big as your instagram body builders that you want to look like. 1.6-2.2g/kg/bw is just a rough estimate. Eat the protein and gain size or don't and be a fricking whiny homosexual like you already are.

In the 1800s there were literally millions of Buffalo roaming the plains. You could take a train and see an endless ocean of them from almost the stretch of the East coast to the West coast. They were so common that people used to kill them and eat only the tongue because that was their favorite part. The same goes for basically the entirety of the rest of the world before dumb frick humans started killing everything in sight and grew to such a massive population that they took over the world. So yes, our ancestors most certainly had more meat than they knew what to do with. They had so much goddamned food that their lives were a cakewalk unless they got bit by a rattlesnake or some shit. Food scarcity in early ancestors is a modern made up fairy tale. Pretty much every tribe that has ever existed before we started fricking the ecosystem up also talks about the boundless abundance of food in their mythos.

the problem is gaining a significant amount of muscle past puberty is pretty unnatural and requires unnatural diet and exercise modalities. The science autists pretty much nailed it down to like 1.8g per kg or 0.8g per lb which is around 22% of calories at maintenance. So even still the amount is not like insanely outside the realm of natural but the consistency it's applied with is.

Your body requires protein to simply be healthy. You need an excess if you want to build muscle, especially optimally. the 1g protein per lb lbm is the amount of protein intake required if you want to consume as much protein as your body can use to gain muscle, because there's a limit to how fast it can.

  11. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

    >You can't convince me I need to eat 200g of protein a day to gain muscle.
    It's been rigorously studied.

To maintain, a 6 foot 180 lbs male would only need around 35 grams of protein a day. To build muscle optimally, it's 2.5x that. So around 90 grams a day.

90 grams is incredibly easy to get with just normal foods. But you must also understand that EVERYTHING in America is a scam, so the vast majority of bodybuilders here have been conned into think they need triple the protein, which conveniently lines the pockets of supplement companies and the meat+dairy industry.

Also damages their kidneys and causes kidney failure in the long run, but America was always a sociopathic entity.

Okay, prove that a 1g protein per lb bw intake causes kidney damage. Show me the studies right now.

I knew you couldn't prove it. The reason is that saying high protein causes kidnety damage is like saying walking can cause a lot of damage to ankle joints. Except in the study they only studied walking for people that had already broken ankles, and walking on the broken ankles caused even more damage.

If your kidneys are in good health, they have absolutely no problem even with abnormally high protein intake, (2g+ per lb bw).

People with healthy kidneys have no problem, in SOME of the studies done on the subject.

Nobody has healthy kidneys. Dr. Richard Jensen has estimated that over 90% of Westerners have kidney damage. Over half of which have caused significantly impaired function.

Kidney disease isn't usually diagnosed until you're already at 1/3 of your normal function, however.

You are making a mistake of logic, let’s assume Dr. Jensen is right that 90% have some kidney damage. In the studies they still find only people with kidney damage by the current standards, not by Dr. Jensens standards have problems with protein intake. Imagine it’s like this (using hypotheticals). Current standards say less than 50% is damaged kidneys, Dr Jensen says less than 95% is damaged. Studies show that people with no damage in the current standards have no issue with protein. This shows that people with 50%+ function can take the protein, not people with no damage in general. So Jensen’s estimation is irrelevant because his standards aren’t the ones used in the study.

                Anonymous

                >Jensen’s estimation is irrelevant
Look him up and read his actual work. He is working by official diagnoses. The issue of kidney disease is that it's criminally underdiagnosed.

And he points out that once you start getting to around 60% filtration, excessive proteins begin to build up. Especially animal proteins because they have uric acid and high creatinine. It also goes hand in hand with impaired liver function which also suffers from these issues. There's a reason a lot of people today have to eat extremely restrictive diets, it's because their organs are damaged and they cannot effectively filter out all the harmful substances anymore. This is caused by childhood vaccinations, particularly mercury in the vaccines, but nobody wants to address that so many people are going to die of kidney disease and many other issues.

                >Healthy people have no issues with high protein intake.

just 40 years ago, healthy ALT levels were 25 or less. Now it's 49 or less. Hypertension was also not as strictly diagnosed as it is today since people were able to have higher blood pressures without suffering things like kidney issues from it.

The majority of the population is unhealthy at baseline, and I mean like 90-95% of people are metabolically unhealthy.

I can almost guarantee that you would not be classified as a healthy person if your labs were scrutinized.

                >The majority of the population is unhealthy at baseline, and I mean like 90-95% of people are metabolically unhealthy.
Any sources to back that up? Or are you just gonna claim a random doctor said so? Plus very minor liver issues has nothing to do with kidney function or high protein intake.

And I've had labs done, in face I'm about to have several blood tests taken for a pinch nerve issue I'm having to make sure it's nothing else, which includes Full blood count, HbA1c, TFT's, TSH, B12, Folic, Vit D, Bone, LFT, U&E, and CRP, and last time I had most of those checked I was fin, besides elevated blood count. So unless you're about to say that a single marker that's outside of being healthy proves your point that 95% of people are unhealthy, then I don't know what to tell you. And if you do say that, you're moronic, because it doesn't matter if someone has a Folic acid level that's slightly too high or low when it comes to high protein intake and kidney function.

                >So basically I'm still right? It only matters to people with kidney damage?
If 90% have kidney damage then 90% will get assraped by kidney disease from protein consumption.

It is unhealthy to have any gut at all. Yet 95% of people carry a big stomach pouch, just signalling they are physically and mentally unwell.

The liver and kidneys can sustain a lot of damage before you have issues with them. As has been previously stated, you aren't diagnosed with liver or kidney problems until they are severely damaged.

The fact that you don't readily see the connection between the kidneys and the liver shows that you don't exactly have all the relevant information that's being discussed here. The pancreas is the other organ of interest here as well.

As far as bringing up what certain doctors are saying, you do realize that the chief science officer of the american diabetes association was a paid consultant by the largest candy companies in the world right? It also took until 2018 for their dietary guidelines to mention restricting carbs for diabetics.

If you're trying to tailor your argument from an authority standpoint, many of the medical associations that exist today are infiltrated by special interests and to rely on them for information is a mistake.

Yeah, especially compared to someone who has a worldwide following of people that love them and had great advice to others about improving themselves as they themselves came from a very insecure place that many can relate to.

And the only reason they died was cause they were really abusing drugs, compared to many other professional bodybuilders that are still living well into their 60's+

              Third source
              >"The evaluation of the association between protein and renal function based on GFR is based on two prospective cohort studies (11, 60), both quality graded as C, and two short-term intervention studies (9, 61), both quality graded as B."
Crap sources - C means "Suggestive, no conclusion", B means "probable".

              >Regarding the associations between protein kidney function and kidney stones, the evidence is regarded as inconclusive. EFSA also found the available evidence insufficient to derive an upper level of protein intake based on protein and kidney function (5). But our systematic review calls for reflection. The two included experimental studies (9, 61) found that an HP intake corresponding to ca. 2 g/kg BW compared to ca. 1 g/kg BW increased GFR among young participants, but this association was not confirmed by the two cohort studies
One more study that was debunked by two more

              >The evidence is assessed as inconclusive regarding the relation of protein to renal function based on microalbuminuria

              >The evidence is assessed as inconclusive regarding the relation of protein to renal function based on GFR

              >In a 7-year prospective cohort study among healthy individuals, Halbesma et al. (11) found no association between protein intake and decline in GFR, as estimated from plasma creatinine (eGFR). The cohort was separated into two groups according to 24-h urinary albumin ≥ or<10 mg/day. In the Nurses’ Health Study with 11-year follow-up among healthy women, Knight et al. (60) also found no association between protein intake and decline in eGFR in participants with a normal eGFR at baseline. Among women with mild kidney insufficiency at baseline, the decline in GFR was related to protein intake, significant also for non-dairy protein intake.
Only decline was in those with mild kidney insufficiency, no decline in those with healthy kidneys.

              >The evaluation of the association between protein and risk of kidney stones is based on two 8- or 10-year prospective cohort studies (64, 65), both quality graded as C (see Appendix C, Table C14). Overall, there was no association between protein intake and kidney stone formation.
Your own source once again saying you're wrong.

You failed to say that the damage only occurs in already damaged kidneys.
But to keep it simple for everybody, getting at least 120 g of protein is safe and easy to do.

it is bullshit and an ounce of critical thought dismantles the whole thing

i remember when I was eating around 60g of protein a day and doing hill climbs/sprints on my bike and putting on leg muscle
the protein doesnt just float away lile smoke and as long as you have calories to repair it then protein requirements are low

    calories ≥ protein

Been eating 90/100g per day and making consistent gains. Most people can get away with less than 1g per kg of bw
