Man anon you should go to the Olympics with those leaps.
I didn't mention I grew up in Mexico, where vegetables are in fact cheaper than junk food. I mostly had tortillas and whatever else we(mother and I) could get on 0 income as her history of mental illness prevented her from getting or maintaining a job.
I ate a considerable amount of rice, beans and corn. If we were lucky and the butcher wasn't selling his meat as fast as he would like we would get heavily discounted beef.

All this should be irrelevant to the threat but since you feel inclined to pause your jerking session in your air conditioner basement to type baseless guesses I guess it must be added.

RDA of protein is 56 grams (that's way too low, but we'll use it anyway for the sake of simplicity). To get that, you could eat 542 g (19 oz) of steak, or you could eat 1448 g (51 oz, or 3.2 lb.) of broccoli. According to google, the average head of broccoli is 225 g (8 oz), so for just your recommended daily allowance of protein you would need to eat about six and a half heads of broccoli every day.
Keep in mind that all of this is not factoring in the lower bioavailabilty of plant proteins.

Banaszek 2019 Of note, the average protein consumption was approximately the same at 1.8 and 1.7 grams of protein per kilogram bodyweight for the whey and pea protein groups, respectively. In other words, the protein dose was pretty high and overcame any apparent differences in EAA content or bioavailability.

          >In another study, Joy et al. took 24 college-aged males and trained them 3x/wk for 8 weeks while providing them with 48 grams of protein from whey or rice. The authors hypothesized that at this level of protein intake, muscle protein synthesis would be maximized from either protein supplement. Similar to the Banaszek study, both groups saw similar increases in 1RM bench press and leg press, and increases in peak power in a Wingate test. The authors also noted that there were, “No detectable differences were present in psychometric scores of perceived recovery, soreness, or readiness to train.”Joy 2013.

          >Hartman et al. measured the strength and muscle gain of 56 young men after 12 weeks of training 5 days per week. The men were randomized into one of three groups that consumed milk, onions, or sugar after each training session. There were significant increases in strength for all groups, but no differences between the onions or milk protein groups following 12-weeks of resistance training. With respect to hypertrophy, it did appear that there was a slight advantage in those who consumed milk compared to the onions group, however this finding was barely statistically significant. Additionally, the onions group was consuming 1.2 g/kg/day of protein compared to the milk group consuming 1.4 g/kg/day, which may have influenced this small finding.Hartman 2007

None of these are bad in the doses you'd typically eat, and the ones that are are unpalatable unless cooked which neutralizes the anti-nutrient. But I can see why it would be a problem for vegans that struggle to get enough vitamins and minerals without their food decreasing its availability even more.

    >protein per calories
not how nutrition works. what that image really says is:
    >broccoli has neither protein nor energy
so basically you need some other reason to eat broccoli, like vitamins, minerals or fiber. if you already have all you need of those things you shouldn't eat broccoli. meanwhile it's almost impossible to get too much protein so a food rich in protein like beef is almost always a good addition to your diet.

  19. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

    Blatant lie.
100 calories of meat roughly equates to 10-20 grams of protein with extremely high bioavailability.
100 calories of broccoli as an incomplete protein doesn't even equate to 10 grams of protein not to mention the whole incomplete part. Add in extremely low bioavailability as vegetables rely entirely on gut fermentation to absorb and finally the absurd amount of broccoli needed to compare.

    frick off newbie.

I'm (sort of) vegan and I look better than a solid amount of IST, judging by /cbt/ threads. Not to disrespect their progress, anyone who works on themselves is respectable. I do eat fish and meat if I hunt it myself though, but somewhat rare to do so. Once I get my own property I plan to own chickens as well. Probably still won't eat cheese or milk, seems like a massive pain to try and get my own milk, even from a smaller animal like a goat. Just having to impregnate that b***h for my milk seems like a big chore, ignoring the ethics of it. Not a big deal though, cheese is pretty easy to fake with nutritional yeast.

Don't particularly care about other peoples diets tbh, I think meat eaters are way more annoying and pretentious when it comes to shit like that. Even outside of IST I would regularly have people try to check me or slip shit into my food as a gotcha. Sort of expected though, you add your personal ethics into anything and someone is always going to want to debate you on it for no fricking reason. Still, nobody here on IST has ever etched the windows of a walmart before, or fricked a delivery truck, despite pretending to be anti-goyslop radicals. I believe in standing for my beliefs, simple as.

Anyways, enjoy your monthly bump for making a shitty thread that made it past my word filters. Cheers lads, gna hit a new PR today. Wagmi

I think he meant ergonomically it would be a pain in the ass, mr. underaged Larper. You'd need more goats to impregnate it, more land, you would need to deal with the babies afterwards, pay vet fees, etc et al. If you aren't a dedicated farmer then I can imagine it would be a huge pain. Pretty sure just to have a single cow you need at least like 2 acres of land, so already that's a hugr cost.

I'm lifetime veggie and wouldn't really turn to broccoli for protein tbh, tend to get mine through dairy and legumes mostly

I'm 6"1 so my growth hasn't been stunted at least, but admittedly I find it very difficult to put on either fat or muscle

    https://www.nutritionix.com/food/broccoli/100-g

Broccoli has 2.4g of protein by 100g. You believe propaganda which you could have fact checked with a 10 seconds long search on Google. You are moronic.
