Why do long distance runners always look like shit while sprinters look great?
Latter Day runners don't train for explosive power like sprinters, nor do they intentionally accumulate body mass since it would be a disadvantage carrying extra weight.
They don't. PROFESSIONAL long distance runners look, and are, really skinny because they are HYPERSPECIALIZED at long distance running to an extreme degree, and having less weight makes their sport easier for them. Sprinters do not have to sustain their weight for as long and they much go faster, making strong muscles useful. As just a normal person and not a professional athlete, running both long and short distance a couple times a week is really useful and will not somehow magically make you skinny.
Don't worry you will never look like a runner. It takes insane effort to run under 3h marathon and the sport benefits short thin bodies.
It's like fearing that you will get tall if you play basketball
B-but my favorite fitness garden gnometuber told me I should never run and I should instead walk 30,000 steps a day because I obviously have 6+ hours a day to dedicate to fitness.
You mean shoes that will last on concrete or shoes that give you cushioning? Because if it is the latter that seems to defeat the purpose and I don't think it is really necessary. A couple runs of concrete a week shouldn't hurt you.
Barefoot shoes with some padding doesn't defeat the whole purpose. They still have a much wider toe box to let your toes splay, totally flat bottom with no heel elevation, no ankle support, and far less padding than a typical running shoe.
no, its bad for the joints, and too much of any cardio causes cardiomyopathy in the long term. People have this weird idea that if a small amount of something (cardio) is healthy, then a retarded amount all day every day is extra super special healthy.
i think about this a lot.
you can't cheat death, but consistent exercise can at least allow you to age gracefully
also wear sunscreen to avoid wrinkles
The triathlete looks delicious, I know who I'd rather have
Yum
I hobby jog 3 times a week
I do upper body 4 times a week
I eat whatever I want
based, same
people say running on concrete is bad. do i run in the forest then?
yeah trail running is better or treadmills or tracks
Soft ground saves the pads of your feet.
Plus your nails won't get worn down so much.
Just run next to the road, or, if you're in a city, in the park.
Long distance running is bad, sprinting in short bursts is better
> aerobic exercise is bad
this board is a cursed place
Why do long distance runners always look like shit while sprinters look great?
Just because the physique doesn’t do it for your personal preference in aesthetics doesn’t mean long distance running is bad lol
Long distance runners objectively look bad.

Do people really think sprinters don't also train at subthreshold paces?

Running kills you faster
Not if you fast.
>let me just add more variables
Ok buddy
>you can actually control what variables are in play
You're right, and I'm right, but also nobody is right because god a moron.
Only if you're too slow to outrun Death.
good
Any recs for barefoot running shoes that will work on pavement, if they exist? My barefoot hiking boots are great and my legs are supremely juicy now
Xero Shoes makes running shoes that are good on concrete.
