I think this is safer to bail out of than back squat. Used to do both for track though.

Now try extremely narrow high bar back squat. It's the only thing that's comfortable for my knees with a barbell as a long femur 6'3". It's a lot harder and will be impossible if you don't have ankle mobility.

Front squats are just super based

It’s PURE quad strength, no hip hinging glute cheating
It’s safer for the back, you’re FORCED by gravity to be upright if you don’t want to drop the weight
Way more comfortable to go ATG

    It’s simply the best squat

Put your legs closer together and do back squats if you want to feel only quads.

Back squats work out my quads, front squats, goblet squats, and deadlifts all seem to work out my glutes. I'd say both have their place, I had no glute development till I started incorporating front squats inbetween my back squat days

What do you guys think of zercher squats frens? I know it's not the same as front squats but could it be viable as someone's main squat variation.

The fricking shoulder mobility on the right. No wonder people struggle. The higher the elbows the more upright you are, keeping better balance.

Form in your pic isn't good either, you should be able to full grip the barbell, not just use the fingertips

Formlet cope, I fs 4pl8 full grip

Literally incorrect. Some people cannot do that and it doesn't matter. Any WL coach will tell you to keep your elbows up and not focus much on beeping hold of the bar. Elbows up is what actually keeps the bar on your clavicle, not the hold on the bar.

Yeah maybe some roided out strongmen with 23" arms will not be able to, but I have natty 18.5" arms and can comfortably reach perfect form with some warming up

                No :^)
Anyway coaches will differ in their opinions and probably apply some feel good bs to all, I like being a form nazi either way. Learned this elitist opinion from listening to some russian WLs, if you get too used to the fingertip form you may frick up your jerk

i never said i can front squat 4 pl8. however i can front squat 3pl8 and i know that the whole finger tips vs full grip thing is pointless bullshit

I really cannot do these, I either completely frick up my wrists after a few sets or choke myself out and can't breathe.

    I think I'm moronic

There is always possibility that you are a moron but more likely you have tight lats. If you have tight and stiff latissimus dorsi, it limits your ability to externally rotate your arm and how high you can lift your arm to flexion. Both are needed for front rack position and if your front rack position is poor, it causes wrist pain.

Choking is also caused by poor rack position but also by inexperience, small delts and poor bar placement. So try to stretch your lats.

Just came by to say squatting from a rack is a cope. I worked up to a 3pl8 1rm starting from my bench. First time going to a gym after this to try a squat rack and I rep 2pl8 on front squat. You might as well be at adult daycare if you squat from a rack lol.

youre numbers went down when going from your bench to a rack, this signifying that it is actually harder to do

Someone posted this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvYzq36zm5s in a recent front squat thread. I tried it and nearly dislocated my shoulders/elbows. I don't know how the frick he can keep the bar where it's supposed to be without blowing out his arms' joints in that position. I'll stick to my shoulder width grip with 3-4 fingers and my elbows pointing up.

Ironically the more useful advice I got from the video was flaring my knees out wide like a slav squat. I tried it with them being even wider than my back squat and it felt amazing. Best front squat session ever.
