It was funny the first time I heard it, but like many normalgay memes, it's just become an expected part of speech instead of just a funny joke.

    >>Your training does NOT count if you don't compete.

Are there guys here who train and don’t compete at anything? Not even lifting but just like anything? Run a 5k and try to beat other people? Rec sports league? Martial arts? Nothing?

I just like lifting, so really I'm just "training" to be better at lifting. I don't compare about competing in any capacity.

Unless they're using it as some sort of identity I don't see the problem. Don't get me wrong I hate powershitters as much as anyone, but this one is a bit unfair, it's like saying you can't be a bodybuilder if you don't do gay competitions.

Before it used to be pretty simple. You were a bodybuilder if you competed in bodybuilding shows.
Now normies are calling themselves bodybuilders cause theyve been hitting the gym for 2 years.
At what point do you get to call yourself a bodybuilder? 3 months in? 1 year?

Powerlifting leagues aren't the olympics. Unless you're world class, you're really just competing against yourself. Some people just aren't interested in formalizing it. Since lifting isn't inherently competitive it isn't really an own to make fun of someone for not competing.

makes sense to me. Just like you shouldn't call yourself a bodybuilder if you don't compete. You just lift, anything else is cope

He unironically isn't, and never was.
      His gym lifts don't matter.
Oh? You hit a PR in the gym? Good for you 🙂
You still contribute nothing to the sport you "love" by being scared to compete.
If you don't compete, you're not involved. Doesn't matter what you do at home.
      Simple as.

I bench 160kg but never have I thought about considering myself a powershitter or God beware take part in on of their little gay meets

      >it's just for introvert nerds who have literally no other kind of achievements in their life
It absolutely is. No healthy & well-balanced individual cares about lifting enough to go out of their way to earn a particupation trophy at some local SBD meet. It's silly. Comp powerlifters are gays. All of the comp dorks at my gym have absolutely nothing else going for themselves other than their total. It's the casual lifter who's been lifting as a hobby for 12 years and has an incredible total, who has the best balance in life.
People who lift for their own intrinsic rewards will always be vastly superior to some tiktok zoomzoom who lifts for IG pics and participation trophies (he placed 13th out of 22 people at his meet after training for 4 years but he's more of a legit lifter than the guy who benches 450 for reps but never competes xD)
      What a fricking dork take.
