I would choose pull ups if it hit my lats the way lat pull down does for me. So many variations to do. I just dont feel it in my lats no matter what I’ve tried
I would say pullups but they don't really work in my situation. I have tiny wrists and my elbows wouldn't be able to handle a high volume because of my job. I would do nothing but seal rows which is also a situational choice for me because they take the lower back out of the movement. My lower back gets plenty of work in my day to day life.
Get this "just 1 exercise for bodypart" bullshit out of your head before you spend the next 5 years wasting your time getting nowhere trying to be a minimalist lazy moron like me
Turns out the bro-morons doing 10 different back exercises were unironically right all along
Pull ups
/thread fpbp edit thanks for the gold fellow stranger
Are muscle ups in the pull ups umbrella?
Lat pull downs

Deadlift because I’m a powershitter
If just for Hypertrophie then pull ups
zercher
High bar back squat
Back squats
Low rows. Pull ups are meh stimulus for me.
Weighted Pullups. Its the only back exercise I do anyways.
barbell rows. I don't think pull ups engage mid-upper back enough
Yates rows since they target lats more than regular rows and I can’t technically do pullups
weighted pull-ups(obv sweaty)
but would miss my heavy barbell rows and one-arm barbell rows, dearly
T-bar rows, any other row variation is annoying as shit and you won't change my mind

rope climbing. it hits your biceps, and all back muscles harder than anything else (save for lower back).
as a pulling movement its superior to all forms of pullups in my opinion. its kind of like an explosive one arm pull up at a time
A whole lot of ring rows
