Your feet are important. They connect you to the world and are the root of your strength.

Your feet are important.

They connect you to the world and are the root of your strength. The foundation that your body and your power are built on.
I guarantee that your feet are probably fricked from spending your whole life cramming them into moronic modern footwear.
Your feet have been going through wiener and ball torture your whole life, that's what causing your knee and back pain anon.
At least, I now know after years of knee problems that it was my feet all along. So lets have a tread about fixing our feet.
Look at your feet, if you answer no to any of these, you have work to do:
>you have a clearly defines arch
>your big toe is pointed slightly inward, with a clear gap between your other toes (pic rel)
>stand up in a normal, comfortable position. Where are your feet pointing? Are they pointing forwards, or slightly outward? (duck feet)
>can you run a 5k barefoot/in minimalist shoes without your ankles hurting?

Post anything from:
>fixing fallen arches
>fixing your gait
>fixing your duck feet
>Improving ankle strength
>barefoot training
>minimalist footwear suggestions
>proper running form

Cheap and very comfy. First few times I really hurt my knees though, because it turned out I was heel striking, once my form was fixed there were no issues. I've noticed that my toes are starting to spread out.

Buy stuff from Xero shoes helps. Their shoes have wide toe boxes so the balls of your feet can expand naturally when walking and standing.

      Anonymous

I have xero shoes but I have tried brands on Amazon that cost 80 dollars less and they are close to the same quality. If xero made their shoes in America I’d be okay with the price but it’s likely they are made in the same factory the 40 dollar Amazon minimalist shoes are.

I'd rather not give money to Amazon if I can help it. I'll take spending a but more over giving cash to an unethical company.

I understand your sentiment but giving your money to a company that charges their shoes at a premium when they don’t last longer than the same shoes that I buy on Amazon, and they still make them overseas which doesn’t help our own economy doesn’t really make that much sense either. I like the look of xero shoes better but it’s very hard to justify the cost when I’ve actually had the Amazon shoes (WHITIN brand) last longer than the pair that I bought from xero that I use for running and lifting

        Anonymous

Yeah, that’s the disappointing thing about Xero is they cost $100+ and are still made in China. I will say my pair has held up way better than any Nike Free model I’ve ever owned however.

pretty sure most of this damage is from my steel toe work boots. next pair is definitely gonna be the widest they have and I'll try seeing if I can make some progress with toe spacers. it's crazy seeing the bone of the smallest toe going like 60 degrees to the left and then the actual toe cutting back hard right. wouldn't have ever thought anything of it if not for these threads

Lems are garbage. They are flat-soled shoes for normies who never wear flat soles shoes. To someone who wears actual flat-soled shoes Lems are like normie shoes. I ordered a pair off of eBay and immediately gave them away to a friend after I tried them on.

I also love flat soled shoes and have used a pair of Lems for basketball and indoor soccer for years when every other brand has fallen apart after a month of playing. Plus, I can wear my toes spacers inside them, which is virtually impossible in most other brands. If you're a roooooner then yes, there's better options out there, but for actual sports Lems work well

      Anonymous

vivo is good, but the ones that do it for me are wildlings.
wildlings are made of canvass (cotton) instead of plastic mesh. your skin absorbs chemicals more than you know and unless you're wearing socks you're doing yourself a disservice.
if you do the no sock route (my preferred route), splurge a little and get the wool inserts, 10x better than the default ones.
also they're less expensive than vivo.

I've got some and they're great, used to get cramps in my left leg every night while asleep, they've completely gone ever since I started wearing the spacers. They also last pretty much forever. Correct Toes is the best imo, wear them with toe socks inside some Lems shoes for virtually any sport you like

I'm right in between two sizes, would you recommend I go for the smaller or the larger?

I have worn xero shoes exclusively since 2016. They fixed my excruciating back pain. I’ll never wear another shoe. I have like 10 pairs that I wear for different occasions. Zelens and speed force are my favorites. HFS is great for casual wear. 360’s are what I wear to work. The sandals make me feel like a 5 year old running through the playground. Denvers are great when it’s cold or I hop on my motorcycle. The Hanas are the best slip-ons have ever worn and I have two pair of aptos to wear around the house. I also have a pair of black leather Hanas in case I need to dress up.

Yeah these shoes (barefoot, not that brand) were one of the two things that fixed my backpain, the other was starting to sleep on a japanese style futon (basically thick blanket on the ground) instead of a mattress. My backpain was excruciating and needed pain meds, now I'm fine.

this line of thinking is very sound and I would honestly adopt minimalist shoes IF I wasn't a measly 5'7'' manlet ... can't give up on a couple of inches when I have none to spare

a 6ft guy hunched over in pain is seen as more repulsive than a manlet, trust me.

I was curious about minimalist footwear (I try not to say "barefoot shoes" cause ya know) for a little while and ended up getting some vibram five fingers for a good price. I haven't looked back. I'm not really qualified to talk about athletic performance or whatever but I do appreciate being "closer the ground" when it comes to balance and stability. Specific to the vibram 5 fingers the traction is imo unparalleled, this is most evident when doing stuff with the prowler as you can really engage your big toe. it sounds silly and "majoring in the minors" but its pretty obvious when you're doing it. I used the five fingers for running and gym (they replaced both my running shoes and my weightlifting shoes) but of course they are a bit out there for daily normal use. I got some minimalist but normal shoes from aliexpress. the search engine on that site isn't great but "bjakin" "2020 new water shoes" should get you close. They are super cheap (£16 in my case) and have held up really well for daily use over the last 8 months. This was the last nail in the coffin for me using normal shoes, within a few months my saloman hiking boots were quite tight so I replaced them with a set of vivos. These were quite expensive but I haven't been impressed by merrel or saloman in recent years and i think there is a bit of "shrinkflation" going on - the prices have been the same but less quality. I have since got a set of smart looking shoes from vivo for when i am in the office and such.
