How do I do weighted dips if I don’t have a belt? I have a backpack but I heard ideally weight should be on your waist so not sure what to do

i've been holding a dumbbell with my feet. my gym fricking sucks so i've also been having to put ankle weights because their dumbbells only go to 35kg

I do it with backpack stuffed with dumbbells. I think you can place it between legs, but why care. Backpack works well especially if you don't have an alternative

You can get a dip belt for like $25 on Amazon.

Dips are my favorite exercise but once I put them into my regular routine my right shoulder gets fricked and I cant do any push movements comfortably for like 6 months. I've done it twice now and feel like I'm disabled and have to use machines with light weight until my shoulder heals. No more

Stop ego lifting. Use the assisted until your form is correct then work on sustaining your form through light weights

Don't go hardcore on the weights on dips, its a bodyweight movement, you should stick to max 20kg carrying capacity in most loaded calisthenics, soldiers don't do more than this and still train harder than you do.

Seriously? So if I can do 45lbs for 8 should I increase the reps or the weight?

I was told that 2 pl8 dips (90) were the benchmark of good strength

how do i do them without my shoulder clicking

      https://i.imgur.com/r9VQZcw.jpg

I did them when I first started but while i didn't have pain while doing them, my sternum felt sore and even slightly painful to the touch after for a day or two so i stopped. I didn't even do them weighted, just got up to sets of 12-15. Now I do dumbbell bench and decline weighted deficit pushups, dips just don't feel right

      >allegedly the "best" tricep movement
      >100% of dip discussion is about how shitty their shoulder feels while doing them
Then the cherry on top is the 140lb dyel who pops in every time to tell you you're doing them wrong.

      >destroys your shoulders
      t-thanks

Literally made this thread just to laught at you morons. Btw I'm 175lbs so get fricked

dips and some sort of overhead movement to hit the long head is all you need to do if you want to tricepsmaxx

Hate to break it you, but if dips hurt your shoulders and you know your form is correct, you're just a framelet. Your eugenically inferior clavicle length puts your shoulders in position that is unfavourable for the movement. This is the least of your worries however. You should be more concerned with what your inferior frame means for your chances at reproductive success. Life is a cruel mistress.

If we’re taking about body weight style movements that are loaded with extra weight, there’s zero chance that dips are more impressive than pull ups or handstand push-ups.

Tried 27.5 this week for the first time. Anything from 25kg and up feels extremely heavy to me, got 7 reps.

Got a tip for these so you don't have to go so fricking heavy. Do tricep extensions first and perform the reps slowly. Now you'll hit failure on your triceps first instead of your shoulder giving out. I also like feet out in front of you. I also really like legs forward instead of leaning into it. Leaning into it fricks my shoulders.

"Chest" dips are a meme. Dips are not good for chest. Pushups are better for chest if we're sticking to the topic of bodyweight lifts.
