cheap weights

I know this gets asked all the time, but as a poorgay im scrambling to find heavy things to lift. its winter time now, 1 cubic foot of ice weighs about 50 pounds. I've tried the $20 elastic resistance bands and they aren't getting the job done.

if youre super desperate you can put weight in a backpack and just squat using that if you have no weight. sure you might only fir like 30 pounds in it but it still works. you can also do lunges wearing that holding objects in each hand.

When kung flu had the gyms shut down during the winter, I would use big chunks of ice/snow on my deck. Was pretty funny using them for various press and zercher movements

Keep checking used weights on craigslist, FB Marketplace, OfferUp etc. You can make your own weights out of cement. People sell molds or you can make your own or just pour it buckets if you don't care about being exact.

As has been said, keep searching Craigslist, Fb market place etc. Ask around.
If there's a scrapyard near you, try them as the iron sometimes gets err.. weighed in, or ask them to keep an eye out for you.
A few months ago I got 294lb of the blue plates in the pic for £100 off Ebay, and the pair of 16lb db's I found dumped at the side of the road.
Just keep looking, something will turn up.
Hmm.. thinking about it one of my neighbours has had some oly equipment lying unused in his garden for a couple of years now..

Eyy, I have a pair of those blue discs, 5kg. Bought in Index circa 2002. Well met, fellow Britgay - and you're right, you see weights left by the side of the road quite frequently, they're usually standard 1" plates (and the shitty vinyl ones at that) but you can sometimes scoop up some iron

if you can't come up with $300 you might as well have a nice day now

Those bars will start to bend before you reach 300 lbs. Waste of money. Even if you're just buying it for the CAP plates, those are cheaper on their own. I say go on Marketplace or something and find deals. Just make sure it's a bar with a tensile strength in the range of ~176K PSI to 210K PSI´and that you match the standards. 50 mm/2 inch vs 25 mm/1 inch.

    1) Use your bodyweight. Gymnastic rings are like $40
    2) Buy 25 cm / 10 in barbell and/or barbell with plastic plates filled with sand.
    3) DIY sandbags, barbells with buckets filled with sand/water.
